Fellow fans,

I’m trying to change the Danube river course, so that Ak-Ink is situated on the right bank.

I’ve deleted the map file,
Edited with GIMP the features tga file
Started a new campaign ,but there are no changes in the map.

I’ve also tried more complex solutions, like changing the settlement site and the region borders on the regions tga file.
The result was the same….no changes on the map.

Is there any step I'm missing?

Thank you!

I'm no modder, but this sounds like you are editing the wrong file. EB is modfoldered, so there are multiple versions of the map files: one for vanilla R:TW and one for EB.

Alternatively, did you remove both the map.rmw & map_heights.hgt files?

The Scriptorium has a guide on modding the map (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?50437-Making-a-new-campaign-map) that maybe helpful.

ETA: I see from your other post that you've already found the guide. If the problem is neither of the above, I'm afraid I'm stumped as well.

Well, I actually only deleted the "map_heights.hgt" file as a last resort, because I wasn't sure it would cause any problem. On my latest tests I deleted that file and the "map.rmw" from the EB folder \data\word\maps\base.

Is it necessary to change any file in the standard RTW?
Thanks.

Not as far as I know. I am sorry I can't help you further.

Thanks anyway Ludens.

Is there no expert modder who can help me? Surely I wasn't the first to think of changing the border at Ak-Ink. Someone else must have done it before.

No doubt, but our R:TW modding fora are very quiet these days. You could try asking over at the TWC (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?22-Rome-Workshop), though.

It's solved.... I forgot that there is a copy of the "map.rmw" file on the SP EDU Backup folder. When we run the trivial script it copies that file to the EB\data\word\maps\base folder. In essence it's has if I never deleted the file in the begining....

All I had to do is delete that map file on the SP EDU Backup folder. When the script is run an error pops up but the game loads just fine. Its even save game compatible... :)

Excellent. Thanks for letting us know the solution.
