I've had this happen a few times but I put it down to rebellions triggering, however I just had it happen on turn 4 in Gaul, a rebellion would have required around a -80 opinion change in that province but as soon as the Suebi left Gaul appeared with a four-stack army.

Is this a bug or is it meant to happen - because it was basically a rebellion out of nowhere, and it looked like they took the settlement and THEN spawned the army, not that the army moved into an ungarrisoned settlement.

4 stack rebels? Can that happen in legendary?

I can only assume someone at CA caught you sleeping with their daughter just before the last patch.

Those might be civil war rebels. I once had a stack of those spawn on turn 2: they carried my faction's insignia and were called "separatists".

Those guys are nasty. They also give loyalty, integrity and public order penalties across the board.

Sorry, four-unit stack.

Ooops - and it was Gaul, and they fired when I lost the settlement, no rebellion, just bloody Gauls!

I was so pissed I reloaded and worked out how to fight the battle to a draw - settlement currently under siege whilst the Hispanic Legion races to relieve them.
