I don't know which is cause and which effect, but I was playing Denmark and all my princes had the VV "irritable".And no one would marry them. I had two 2-star emissaries skirt-chasing full time for over 100 years and all I got was refusals. The game finally ended when my king died without any heirs.

Comments/tips anyone?

Ouch. Sometimes that happens; check for a thread about a guy's King that preferred boys, who also died heirless.

nasty... i guess they got some of thier fathers traits... its a preffered thing just to kill you king early, let an hier take the throne and hope he maries a local noble.. either that or marry him to his sister...

Worst experience I had was when I was playing English.

The king died and I suddenly found myself with an unmarried 64yo king with no available heirs. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif Fortunately, he married the following year and produced a son the next year. Then followed a most harrowing 15 years. Don't die, don't die, don't die.

He didn't and the heir matured. The old buzzard then lived for another 9 years. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pissed.gif

I must have been just very lucky in my games; my families, every generation, seems to have produced a litter of 8-9 heirs, at least 3 males per litter. Nine I think is some sort of cap.

Oh, and I'm the one who posted about the Septagenarian Daddy in my German campaign

I've played English, French, and German factions before. I'm kinda hoping my next game WILL have some sort of succession crisis, just to spice things up a bit.

LOL...my kings must be real players as well--my kings' wives' are popping out sons and daughters like one every five years. I thought it was just me. German fertility > all.

well after going through the same crisi myself i did marry my son off to his sister... the worst part was she gave birth every year for the first 10 years of the marrige... quite nasty if you think about it
