Actually it's only about 90% of my territories. I control most of europe and asia and the Danes attacked me last turn. This means that 4 of the 5 remaining factions are at war with me(the Pope is neutral).
My loyalties were all at least 140% and now most are 0%.
When I try to lower taxes to very low it is still 0% on most of the territories
What gives????

Is yuor King "in communication" with them?
That is can they trace a movemet line from them towherever teh King is, either by land or sea?
If your King is on an island (eg England) and the enemy have a few fleets around then he may be "out of touch" with the rest of his kingdom because the enemy fleets prevent movement in those areas.
Hope you enjoy suppressing all the revolts http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Also, did you recently have a faction leader transition?
When my English f.l (Edward IV) died after serving gloriously for like 55 years, almost every province that I
controlled (with the exception of the several lands that had four of five full armies in them) plummeted to less than 50% loyalty.
I assume this is due to the fact that many of the provinces that I conquered didn't take an immediate acceptance to a brand new king.
Just make sure VERY province under your sword has at least one big army in it (easier said than done I know).

Use a lot of spies, emisarries and clerics in your provinces. Build border forts in every province, build whatever you can in your provinces (to get builder virtue)

If your king is besieged in a castle it also counts as a loss of communication and loyalty levels will plummet.
@[RDH] Spetz Natz - the reason you get rebellions when the king dies is 1. because he relocates thus shifting his sphere of influence 2. YOu lose all those virtues he had that affect loyalty and happiness such as Steward, Magnificent Builder, Approachable Manner etc. etc. You can get 10-30% happiness from some of those virtues so when they're lost you can get a big impact on loyalties and happiness.

Yup..you nailed it m8. That does make sense. I'll have to
work on my new King John II's positive virtues. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

also, if at all possible, never give up momentum. the more provinces you take, the more loyal your generals become. while it might be risky due to the possibilty of rebellions in the provinces you take, an occasional rebellion is not as bad as a civil war.
What kills me is that sometimes your province loyalty falls when you TAKE an enemy province. Do people start saying, "Oh, how terrible Yet another victory for our brave armies Let's rebel"

You must also remember that if you have been allied to a faction for a long time and then go to war with it, at your instgation or not, for some reason your populace doesnt like it...beats me why. Also some provinces,eg Scotland, ar emore rebelious than others. You might also want to check out your generals' V&V's because these do affect your provinces loyalties..

I have had a similar situation so i know what you are going through.I was playing the spanish,Hard and when i had conquered the entire norht africa, middle east, and asian steppes including the Novogorod lands, i had a massive rebellin spree stretchin form Morocco to georgia encompassin all of modern Turkey and all because i got excommunicated for defending my lands. The real annoying bit was these were'catholic' rebellions in 70%+ Muslim provinces and all the 'rebel' armies contained a nice mix of chivalric knights, halberdiers and Fedula foot knights and Feudal knights...

keep big armies in rebellious provinces,i know that the french, scots, muslims are very rebellious, all spanish provinces are loyal(conquered them iwth turks, french, britsh and almohads and still they did not rebel, especially navarre)the excpetion is the portugese these pricks are SOOOO rebellious even if you have large garrisons there they still rebelanatolia(or modern day turkey)is a bit rebellious but keep big armies temporarily and you'll be fine.
