So I've just started getting back into MTW after an extended MechWarrior 4 hiatus. Playing factions that I haven't done before (Almohads, Danes, Italians, Russians) is a lot of fun.

Now should I get the patch? I know some of the benefits: you can actually see your heir now, the traffic light loyalty thing works, better tactical AI, better cavalry etc.

But the thing that gets me is rebellions. I've heard some bad things about MUCH more frequent rebellions that are far larger and tech heavy. The thing that got me to quit MTW before were the frickin' ANNOYING rebellions that would pop up for utterly stupid reasons, like you actually conquering another province, and also the unmanageable strategic game (too many assassins, spies, priests running around and no way to organize them).

Are these things worse or better now in the patch? Should I get the patch?

apparently different opinions on this hot topic
but I find rebellions post patch to be more realistic (more pesants, less high tech) and always 'logical' (in newly conquered provinces, it happens a lot, but it makes sense).

Go patch, you won't come back.

Still havent patched either, but just because i wanna finish this Byz campaign. Havent had a lot of problems with rebellions this time around, mainly keeping a decent garrison, sending in religious figures first, and getting the church up as fast as possible. Though this may all change, i've had the French, English, and now the Spanish all send crusades at me in about a ten year period. And this ticks me off so i usually take a few of their provinces for their effort. But i think the patch would be a good idea. Really looking forward to learning cavalry after getting the patch. More of an archer man right now.

Some people complaints about the patch, but I think most would agree that the patch improves far more than breaking the game. So get patch. Most complaints are, I think, because they are familiar with things before patch, so they feel it is bad.

BTW, after apply patch, you won't be able to continue your campaign you start before patch. So, make sure any good ones are finish.
