View Full Version : Military Strocture
it would be great that there could be a mititary stocture in the game, the basis it woulb be armies, the player could crate for example "army of the nort", and make it a huge army subdiveded in legions, and each legion could be in a diferente territory, so a general could command many more units than the actualy 16, the best Commander ill be generals and the others legion commander or simple unit leaders. this it could be a new kind of troops management, and creat a lot of new fectures, like promoting a general or despromoting, etc,
wath do you think???

That's a great idea I must confess that I usually keep track of my armies w/ a numeral or continental designation (as the game progresses, both). And, yes, I write it down to keep it straight, along w/ a Family Tree of my heirs, their birth dates, and all Kings regnal dates. Therefore I would love little details like that thrown into the game. It might add a little more micromanagement but I think it would just tickle me pink.

i would love that idea as well. further more, it should be a regimental history, to keep track of the best units. there is a log file already, but may be it should be actually put it in as a in-game feature so you when you check unit stats, you can check for the number of killigns/engagement/ medals etc. When I was playing Shogun, I also record the good units' kills from the log files as well. Now I still do that and group the elit together to call them my empirial guard.
with the regimental history, it just adds a lot of color into the game i think.
Hopely in TW III they can increase unit limits > 32 and has subordinate AI generals on the human side in the battle etc.
I would be satisfied with naming armies and/or units.
Such as unit of Varangians would be called the Imperial Guards.

Names would probably be enough.
With the proper name assigned you could keep track notable events in the game and unit history. A creative naming strategy could allow you to keep a rough history of your empire http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
wow.. i never realised how much detail people make in thier games... but i must admit, it does sound like its a good way to keep track of things, and also write a history of your empire.. perhaps ill try it next game, and even make a list of births, deaths and marriges.. who knows...

This is a fantastic Idea.
Naming your regiments, even if it is only after the regiment leader (like sir Johns 12 foot regiment). That would be exactly the sort of detail that would make me love this game even more.
The idea of also rememberinf regiment honours would be equally as great, that way you could ditinguish your veteran troops from you raw newley trained guys.
Oooh I would just love to have this implemented, you listning CA???? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Great idea m8
Unit leaders of difrent rank and the naming of armies would add a gret amount of "personality" to the game. The Rank of Unit leader could for example limit the amount of Units he cn command (giving them his command bonus) ... like a Captain can command 8 units while an General could lead 16 at once.
well as someone stated elsewhere, this would ad much more depth into a game that needs to thrust players into the world of medieval Europe... we need intruges, chivalry and all that stuff.. we want to be the greatest ruler in the world, and we want to see our respect... yada yada
if everything i saw and red is correct something like this, will be made in MOO3.
Naming regiments would be a great way to keep track of armies and their progress during a game.
I'm a a big fan of little touches like this which help personalise games.
Warlords 3 is a good example as it let you name your heroes.

Now, that's another good idea. Why did I not think of that. Still it would be better if it could be "in the game" so ot speak. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Well the idea came from when I played Panzer General (great game ), there I could name my units. I loved to send my Panzer Lehr against some Russian T-34 and see them totally annihialte them. My Totenkopf unit really worked over urban areas... ect ect...
I would even accept if units could only be named if they had done some outstanding action, such as killing a certain number of troops (less if they were better).

What is this log file of which you speak? It sounds interesting...

for post patch only
go to medievil\logfiles
I tell you thats a great idea - another good idea would be to have a summary at the end of the game - battles fought generals and rank, how many men killed, how many lost, how many captured, provinces taken, etc etc etc - and a total score aka civ3

Would be great if generals weren`t fixed to units. Then you could use a peasant general as army commander without that useless unit. Names for units sounds also very cool.
