I really hate the pope.E.g. I'm the english and i attack France I get excommunicated. After 50 my king is dead I'm no longer excommunicated the HRE attck me. They don't get excommunicated. Why? Is it only me that gets excommunicated?

Well, he excommunicates individuals, not nations, so when your king (Who was the one who got excommunicated) dies, the excommunication goes with him.

Me I just send my grand inquisitors to deal with the old bastard. Nothing beats barbequed pope on a stick for good eatin'.

it has to be two attacks within 10 years in which actual combat happens. if the province is conquered, includeing the castle, without a fight, then there wasn't really any fighting. in other words, soldiers have got to die.

i saw the british crusading once,i noticed they had a broken cross in their peity.did'nt know excommed factions can crusade?at least muslims don't get excommed http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif pretty cool when you ward a crusade while muslim and the pope calls a crusade against you
