enemy flees the field

When your in a battle and you get the message "Enemy is fleeing the field" is there any way to quit without penalty?

Quite often I have to wait ten minutes or more for the enemy to run from the field. Seems like a waste of time-

Adjust the speed slider on the bottom of the battlefield overview windor to 100% and it will be over in a flash.

I think when enemy fled the field, there is no penalty to quit. Unless I am wrong, but I found that when I hit ESC after the message, the only thing changed was the increase of prisoners and kill counts. My general didn't lose any virtue and I had the province.

Anyone can confirm, dispell the above belief?

ctrl-T, baby. Use it as well when you're done setting up on the defence and are waiting for them to come to you..

turn the timer bar up to max and turn your cav loose on the hapless bastards.
