....When you took over a province that has the speciality to make a unit ie Jannisary archers you would then have the ability to build that unit even if u were christian, After all the population of the province is still muslim and even when they convert to christians they will still be local to the province http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif I know i can mod this but it would take ages and i never TAB right http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif , I just think there isent enough reason to attack provinces each one like the next boring sure scotland and ireland are fun if u play as the english but after that sheesh it gets boring http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Income of the province and very rarely location are the only reason to attack http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

damn, then muslims must be have the capability to build christian units, but its really silly to see knight templars with a crecent and star instead of cross on their shields http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif.

i think that sum units should be able to get built by diff factions ie. desert archers or men at arms but not truly fanaticaly religious units like hashishn? or Knight's templar.
Yip the one feature i would realy like to see is in taverns if u could send a request for specific mercanaries so that u can get the merc's that u whant sorta thing.

Good idea,b/c i never got the chance to try almughavers, they rarely appear(or rather they never appeared in my games so far http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif).and chiv foot knights should never be mercenaries.
Chiv Foot Knights as mercs... never seen it.
But I have a very memorable moment with mercs... I managed to track down a single Almugharvar unit with both a black shield and a bronze sword. I looked forward to using it so much I more or less sent it all across my empire to my only active front. Then came the patch and corrupted the game... So naturally I deleted the save game... stupid me

I'm not sure I like this idea... I think it's wierd enough that the Danes are able to hire Kwarazmiam heavy cavalry. Or maybe there is a kernel of historical truth in that, I don't really know for sure.
I have an idea about the TAB.
Import the file into spreadsheet program like Excel. Have to tell Excel that it is "tab separated". When you are done, export it back.
I have not try it but I thought I read somewhere Excel can read "tab-separated database".

just a couple notes,
annie, yes you can.
mercs are tracked in the game. mercs come up because other factions release them. same as the units you disband; they become available as mercs.
if you are the conquering faction of a province that builds special units, would you, as the conquering hero, start making units that you had just defeated? seems kind of silly. though, i do agree it might be nice anyways.

i like this idea. once you take over a provence you dam well should be able to force that provence to provide military units that they specalize in. it happened in history why not in mtw.
crusade units should not be able to produced but other than that i dont see why not.
after all nobles and armies in a captured provence are now my vassals

aren't many of the province specific units due to the materials that are available in the area. such as steepe cav, the specific horses that are in the area. sleek and fast, but too wild to be made into war horses useable for heavy horse. genose sailors, archer units from indiginous peoples that are like a caste in the culture. etc?
