In my current English campaign (expert) after about 40 years I have somehow produced the worst bunch of heirs I have ever seen. Barely a command, acumen, influence, dread, piety rating among them. They all have negative vices only - odd number of toes, chinless wonder, I think they are all perverted liking young boys etc. etc. The heir next in line for the throne has i think the worst stats and loyalty of 2 shields.
However, I seem to be producing a non-stop lineup of super generals. I consistently pump out lvl 4 & 5 generals (most with mighty warrior , fearless virtues, etc) and now have about 2 in each province (on the mainland). Some of their loyalty is not real flash and I had to fight a few battles to get the loyalty up to about 4 or 5 shields.
Am I going to get a civil war and what can I do to stop it? France is no more but Spain is looking menacing and I am not entirely sure what the HRE are up to but they have the largest army. A civil war now might be fatal to my buding empire - it is strong but a little chaotic as i try to absorb my recent conquests.
Any and all suggestions appreciated http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

my advice.
1. marry ur lest loyal super generals to your daughters and give them loyalty bonus titles.
1. try your lest loyal general for treason. the rest should become more loyal as the dont want the same fate as that guy.
2. send off all the loser heirs accept one (ur best one)in too suicidal battles. if your very lucky they will all die, if not atleast one or two heirs should get killed. basicly try and get the royal line dead so you can start anew.
assasains may work as well.
3. Make sure you have your good heir in a non port provence with lots of spies to protect him.
4. offer mariage to factions with heirs who are good generals. (dont no if it works in the game but the theroy is that if that faction has good blood then if your heir marries their daughter your may get some of the good blood (genes) in their offspring..
5. put in bishops and cardinals and other happyness inducing things (like buildings !http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif into your provences.
check the loyalty of the provences and other units in armies under less than loyal generals command.
6. keep ur king connected to all provences via land or trade routes. dont take him in to battle becuasee i think the empire loses contact with him when he is fighting.
7. what ever you do dont get excommunicated. that is a sure way to rebellion.
dont know if it will work but it sounded good so give it a try http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
perhaps a civil war would not be such a bad thing, you may end up with a stronger line http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Influence is gained by conquering other territories and I think doing so will get your king some better stats, a few battles to get some stars may help as well.
Yes but mostly the new king will come from old heirs (the kings uncles) or current heirs. Try to kill off the disloyal heirs if you are going to try for a Civil War, it wouldn't be much of a benefit if you just got a new bad king. You would need a general to accend the throne, not an heir.

Whoever is next in line to the throne send into battle a lot as the commanding general, but be careful to keep him safe from harm, he'll soon start getting some good v&v's if you can keep winning with him. Killing lots of prisoners to boost his dread will also work wonders.

Isn't it so that if there is no one of royal blood after Kings death but there is a General married to a princess he becomes a King?
If I am right so you should marry your best general to a princess and get rid of all royal blood generals and heirs except him ofcourse. So after Kings death you got best man there
No, I haven't heard that.
Only that should the king die without any heirs or any Royal generals the faction is dead. But does a general get a crown when you marry him to a princess?

nope,he only gets more loyalty,I don't think princesses can "give" generals royal blood http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif
