I had a rebellion in uk somewhere, dont remember anymore.
the rebellions was only archers and peasants. So i landed an army with 12 kataphraktoi and pronois, i was the byz.
I lined up my cav in a single long line hit start and then charge ahead. The kill ratio went up to top immediatly. The rebels ran away after the first impact. then i saw how many that got killed, half of the rebels were dead in a long string.
after that battle i got the katas.. as my favorite chock unit. I charged them headon on most units, even spears, and they have won all there fights till now anyway.
Thanks to 200 of the katas... i won big against the golden horde

The coolest thing I've ever seen is a bridge battle where the AI let me get most of my units across before even moving from thier deploy zone. I think I posted something about this before.....
And I have yet to fight a winter battle in Medieval. Hmmm..

yes snow
I played almohads campaign (didn't finish it) and defended against two stacks of chivalrics, feudals, royals and a few arbalest ... no way I could have won that cuz I had only 1 stack of muwahids, almohad urbans, ghazis, archers, and 3 ghulam bodyguards but fortunately many many thanks to the snow storm http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
The storm was so cool I could barely see my own units running I checked out the replay and saw that I didn't even noticed that one ghulam bg was standing idle being shot at by an arrow unit

In sp i would say defending a province with only 150 men, fued maa cannons merc calv, against a 2500 force with several maa and horses and actualy winning http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
But in mp having a catapult take a pot shot at the enemy gen and acualy hitting him right on the head with the first shot routing his whole army http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Seriously, the coolest thing I've seen was my English longbowmen routing a 2500 strong Mongol army with no hand to hand combat

Coolest thing was actually a battle in the snow. Only one I have ever seen.
Blowing snow obscured the enemy advance; nothing like cavalry emerging out of the dark and blowing snow to make your plans go awry http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/shock.gif

definitely the snowstorms. Fighting a battle I thought I might win despite being outnumbered then watching enemy reinforcements charge out of the snowstorm into my flanks.
Had to sit and watch my army being destroyed. Very dismayed but looked good
Coolest thing ever seen...
That is back in the days of the Demo, where I had created a Byz vs Turk battle. I had given the Turks pretty much every available (at that time that was not that many) Muslim unit.
So after a long and bloody fight one of my Byz Inf units with only about 40 men left were pursuing some Desert Archers (futile I know it, but I didn't then). Suddenly I see a unit of 100 Nizaris on the flank, I quickly charge at them with the 40 men. While most of my men killed a few Nizaris in the charge one single man played Hercules. He ran all the way through the enemy unit cutting down enemies right and left, anyone who stood in his way was killed, eventually he cam out the other side and promtly rushed back in killing two more instantly as if he charged again. He had killed about 20 Nizaris just like that abouth the same as the rest of the formation had.
It looked damn cool to see one man kill that many enemies, it is even cooler than seeing a unit of Royal Knights charge all the way through a unit of Peasants. He stood out

Hm, not sure, maybe it was invading Sardinia with a single man and win. But I`d say it was rather seeing v5 Hashishin charging peasants. I find after big battles the field looks always pretty cool. Regularily make my desktop backround out of one.
"I have never seen such a beautifull battlefield before." Napoleon
Yeah... Haishishins vs peasants
I made a custom battle, with 3 units of Haishishins vs 2500 peasants, or something similar (16 x 166).. Heh, was enjoyable to watch .. but not the coolest
It was while playing today actually, I ended up helping Spain defend Portugal against muslim rebels and reappearing Almohads. I figured, those rebels where pretty well armed, I'll send in my hired archers (brigands) and barbarians first (vikings and clansmen!http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif.. My first line had quite a bit of trouble, so I reinforced them with my byzantines and it all went well
The cool thing was that when the battle was raging in the center of the map, I noticed a lone clansman chasing a unit of 10-15 saracens around the edges of the map, it looked quite cool, at least terribly amusing
(He was Valour 6 though, with the generals bonus)

Good one
The greatest is to see some small unit of yours rout a huge enemy army (after their General is dead or something). Happened to me today, one Royal knight unit routed about a 5000 men army. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

While I have not been that lucky to fight a snow battle, the coolest thing I ever saw was my army of archers on top of a hill totally decimate the others army. As soon as they got close to my archers I charged from my units in the woods and just massacred them. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

When I was The Golden Horde in campaign, a peasant rebellion occured in Livonia the year after I conquered it. So there I am in a terrible snow storm with units of Golden Horde Horse Archers against a 3200+ man army of peasants. Rather than just charge them and win I decided to practice some steppe tactics. I wanted to make the same circle around them that The Mongols used during their hunting cermonies. The Mongols made a huge circle and gradually made it tighter until The animals had no escape. Then they killed the animals. The Khan went first followed by generals, etc. So I set up my horse acrhers so they formed a complete circle with the peasants in the middle of it. It was pretty much a man-made fence for cattle. Then I let loose hoardes of arrows on them inflicting terrible casualties. As the corpses piled up, I decided to just obliterate them by tightening the circle as The Mongols did hundreds of years before. I let my general go in first and he killed a few. I was worried that the peasants would rout to early so I withdrew my general back to the circle and let my other units erase everything inside the circle. No one escaped. When I say that I mean they didn't even get a chance to run for it. They were totally surrounded and everyone died or was executed after being captured. The fighting lasted for maybe 5min. Setting up The Mongols in a circle took a while though.

Yeah I would imagine that takes a while yo set up. But I can imagine it is very satisfying afterwards.
On the whole it is just an awesome view to see so many units charging at each other on the battlefield.
