Ethnic composition of the Byzantine Empire ?

Hi all

I must admit that I am interested in the Byzantine Empire.
But what kind of people they were ?
I have read somewhere that they spoke greek, ok, but that
does not mean that they were 100% greek.

No. They were a multi-ethnic empire with Greeks being the dominant but not the unique race of its people.Armenians and Slavs (Serbians, Bulgarians) where composing the rest of the population. Apart from this the administration traditionaly remained Roman until Heraclious.
