View Full Version : Heir Error?

My King is very strong he has pretty much high everything. My heir keeps maturing with 0 command but comparable stats in all other catagories, I've been saving and redoing the few years before my heir matures.
My King has a skilled attacker virtue, when he is on the attack the heir matures with 0 command.
When I don't do anything with my King the heir also has zero command.
I killed my King the same year my heir came of age and the heir came out with 8 stars. What gives?

I like to keep my king safe to discourage rebellions so command rating on heirs doesn't matter, a high dread or acumen is useful though.

What ive noticed is when a good hier say 6-7-8-9 star gets sons most of them get high command aswell..but if you´ve gotten like 4 sons with good command then the rest the last will be 0 command hier..ive seen this several times

Yes the bloodline seems to get weaker the more kids you have, but this is my firstborn and if I move my king around or he dies it changes the heir, but only his command which is either 6-8 or 0 the rest of his stats stay the same.

Check the names to see if the 8 star king is the same as the 0 star king. If not, you might be getting a hero king for some reason.

Well I'm giving up, I worked to strengthen my Kings to give them high command, but now I guess I'm just have to start the traing process over again.

Well I didn't figure out exactly what was going on but, I reloaded a saved game and moved my King back to my captial to wait for my heirs to come of age. They all came out with stats comparable to the King, including command. Does the province your heir matures in affect his stats so much that he can go from 0-8 command or is this a screw up?
The heirs come out as "the apple that has not fallen far from the stem" so a good king with 8 in command might get a command 6-10 heir (speculation but there is substantial indicators)... but since there is no Command 10 he will become a Command 0 So in general try and keep the king strong but not too strong, and always kill of the Command 0 heirs.

To Heir is Human....
Kraxis is right on. I've tested it pretty thoroughly (and later discovered there is a huge thread on the subject here which would have saved me some time http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif ) and discovered that if you have an eight or nine star king, his heirs may wind up as zeros. I believe there is about a two star range either way. Thus 8 star king ranges...oh well read Kraxis post right above, he already has this writ down Anyways, he's right.

Heh Been there, done that, complained about it, written about it (repeatedly). No-ones gonna fix it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif
But yes this is true. Particularly with the skilled attacker/defender virtues. My advice is that when your son is going to come of age, put the king in a castle, to remove the effects of these virtues. Also ensure the king is 8 star or less, a natural 9 star king is in trouble http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif
