1. Please dont change the era. This one still has a ton of scope untapped.
2. Please make the graphics better. With 75% of the PC population now armed with a GeForce card its a crime that the graphics are so poor.
3. Please add (to battles); weather, weather effects (ie mud splash, difficulty charging in mud, rain, mist, etc) blood (there must have been tons), and realistic figures.
4. Please add (to campaign); seasons, merchants we can assinate, promote, bribe and spy on.
Thoughts?

I agree with all of those suggestions Ironfist, but I would like to add more.
Make castle sieges actually be some fun. Right now all they consist of is siege (which dies pretty fast) pounding away on a wall until it breaks down. Introducing ladders and what not to actually storm a castle with men would be a sight to behold. Also were there not archers with fire during this time period? I would be estatic if you were able to have battles where the field was set aflame. Or better yet imagine setting a forest on fire to drive out those hidden in there. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Make battlefield sizes larger. Right now they just don't cut it for me honestly. I think if they were to introduce much larger battlefields we could have missile units with historically correct stats.
Also I really agree about the weather effects. Things like mud and rain should really punish us players and will hopefully create a more realistic game.
And my last suggestion would to add some sort of random factor to units fleeing. I think it would be great if routing units had characteristics of their own. For example, lets say there are 100 peasants routing. Well with the random characteristics you could have some give themselves up, some trip to be killed by your units, or some that fight to the death. This to me is the ultimate in trivial because it's such a little thing that would be cool to see.

I don't fully agree. i think they just have to squeeze out of MTW what they can through add-on(s) and patches and create a completely new Total War game in a new era.
Some of the ideas are pretty good though There was allready someone else (don't remember who) suggesting that instead of turns in years we should have turns in seasons; thus also reducing building times and also seasons come into play more dominantly. Guess something like this might be able to be solved in a patch or add-on.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I want real time 3-D naval battles. I'm not sure exactly how this would work, or even if it could be done with the total war engine as it stands, but those are technical issues, they could be worked out, I'm sure. Actually there aren't many choices for naval battles. Age of Sails 2 has so many bugs its unbelievable and I don't think there are any other games out that have 3d naval battles like that.
Adding naval battles isn't that tough. Despite the bugs Age of Sails 2 had a nice system. They could get some ideas from that. The other things like weather and wind are already present in the game, so they are already part way done if you think about it. As far as water maps, how many different kinds are possible? Not many. They could just use the same map over and over again, but the weather effects would create waves and maybe lightning, so its like having many maps. Sounds easy to me. Only hard part is making the ship models(you need a few for each kind since there are Muslim ships and Cathloic ships, oh and you need an oriental one for The Golden Horde.), animations, and balance. I think it could be easily implemented. With this also comes the possibility of MP and custom naval battles.

Did the golden horde have ships at all? It seems odd to me that steppe nomads would have naval forces. But maybe I'm wrong, I dunno.
Jeez It's been maybe a year, and yet everybody is still unsatisfied with MTW Complaints about sieges, where there never used to even BE siege battles, and naval warfare, where there wasn't even ANY ships. Crazy. I do think that changes should be made, almost all of the ones above mentioned, however, I really think MTW is a great game and the ONLY game in which I have ever been able to control hundreds of warriors at one time. Please do not interpret this as flaming; I really do respect your opinions and thoughts, but I really do think that MTW is a great game, and that everybody should bask in it's warm glow of wonderful gaming power http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/redface.gif (He's warm because of the glow).

I am all for IF suggestions, especially the effects of rain on the battlefield. The graphics can be more refine with all those cards in the market. The castle seiges will be better with scaling ladders, battering rams and other machines. Defenders on top of the rampart defending these attacks with arrows raining down and maybe boiling oil for the invaders like those in Lord of the Relm would add more to the game also.
Naval battles during Medival time are more of boarding and hand-hand fighting so maybe there wouldn't be much to look forward to but still i would like to see that in. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif
F-Devil, i think the Mongols don't really have a fighting naval force but its more for troops transportation. i could be wrong on this so maybe someone can give u better details on it.

Lehesu, I don't mean to imply that I'm unhappy with medieval, because that is far from the truth. I love it Especially the seiges, they are incredible. I agree with you, controlling hundred or even thousands of troops on the battlefield in real-time 3D is ...well.... wow

i think they should work on making combat look a little more realistic. i mean, cavalry should actually break enemy formations in two when applicable. i'd also like to see an increase in speed...i want to see my men RUNNING towards the enemy, war cries in the air, and when they meet, make it more than two lines of enemies smooshing into each other. they should intermingle much more than they do now. adding ladders for castle assaults, archers on the walls, diplomacy that actually works... allies that help you, sending money back and forth, travel through allied lands, etc...
I'd love to see a LOTR: Total War too, but that isnt the case. The LOTR strategy game will be an RTS think I read it on Gamespy *Grunts*

I dont know about the Golden Horde(They were the Mongol forces in the west) , but the Mongols did use ships, made by and probably manned by Conquered people. I believe they used Korean ships when they tried to invade Japan.
Heh, I've always thought that Rain DID have effects, before a battle I've always thought, Hrm.. heavy rain it will hamper their archers, but it will also hamper my heavy cavalry, running around in the deep mud.
And... more diplomacy True the MTW diplomacy kicks Shoguns diplomacys ass, Shoguns campaign interface was in all aspects inferior,
Medievals is decent and fun. But I want it to be superior
Naval battles wouldnt be hard to introduce, Just get ships with units on them. crash them into eachother and board them..

Diplomacy is number one on my list. Naval battles and seasons would be cool too. I would also like to see smaller provinces and more realistic building times and army movement times. And better AI (not just enemy but also own units should have different behaviour).

Quite some time ago one of the devs said(not an exact quote) that they did not include naval battles due to the sheer amount of worked involved.The dev (sorry carnt remeber which one it was) mentioned that they did a feasability study or some such and alas it was not feasable for this release.

I too would like to see improved sieges,ie men on ramparts and some towers.WE might get are wish in the next release.
As already mentioned,I think the biggest improvent would be welcomed in the diplomcy part of the game
As far as graphics and AI gose, I think we can take it as a given that it will be better in the next release.

Please god no more Arabs. They have completely spoilt the game for me. Medieval warfare is about Europe. Having to fight arabs is a pain and if I could I would avoid crusades.
Destroying inferior tribes isnt anywhere near as satisfying as fighting quality European enemies :-)

whatever the next TW will be about i hope they make so you can control more then 16 units on the field, like 26-32 mabye even more.

Sea battles would be very nice addition
The Golden Horde would not have had any ship unique to them, they were, for the most part, landlocked on the Asain continent. They might have had ships in the Black Sea, but they probably would have used simple ships and wouldn't have been a real naval threat.
As far as better graphics and more units. I know that many people have cards but many do not as well. What are they supposed to do? I think the 16 unit limit is fairly reasonable. Is there a way to satisfy both sides? Maybe something similar to the unit size adjuster there is now?
I agree sieges could be a little more realistic: ladders, boiling oil, moats, etc
Another good Medieval game is Stronghold by Firefly Studios. Pretty diff from MTW (its a RTS), but its okay. I only have the demo, though.

My boldest general, many stars, leaps into the fray to save his routing army and win the day. Suffering many casualties in his heroic attempt to glorify his liege and expand the Empire, he must flee as well. The enemy, few troops left themselves, chase my boys off the field of battle. A close battle, a brave general...now a good runner. Can we not make this more SITUATIONAL? At least perhaps based on some formula which includes the sizes of both factions' armies and the number of casualties each received, as well as how my general acted during battle? Why after a career of victories, seven stars (four of them EARNED) on his shoulders, and battlefield bravery unmatched, does he get a MORALE PENALTY simply because he was OUTNUMBERED 3 to 1? There has to be a way to FIX THIS
