View Full Version : anybody else disappointed...?
Is anybody else a bit disappointed by the way Clansmen and Viking sprites are represented in the game? I had expected "Braveheart" type depictions in skirts but instead they look like ordinary peasants with swords. I know it would offset the faction colors but we they could get around that, couldn't they?

That kind of did dissapoint me, it is a small detail, but when it's the small detail you care about it matters. Put a kilt on the Highlanders and give the vikings axes, and long beards just to be stereotypical and I'll be happy.
nope
Kilts didnt come arround until about the 17th-18th centuaries... they were actually a tourist attraction. In the middle ages the clansmen wore potato sacks like everyone else

I was dissapointed too,at first i thought every unit had a unique sprite, but later i discovered alot of sprites look the same http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif particularily Byzantine infantry, saracens,JHI,and Feudal Fottknights all had the same sprite, while varangians,AUM,and one of the militia units shared the same sprite and the list goes on.atleast ghazi infantry had a unique sprite,if we can mod its colors it is possible to make clansmen...

The "formal" kilt was invented in the 17-18 hundreds by the english. but back in the olde days the scotts wore a large sheath of fabric witch was the first kilt, round the waist and over the shoulder just like in braveheart. im being serious braveheart actualy got sumthing historically accurate. now it wasnt fancy or clean for that matter but it was still a kilt.
