99% sure they'll make him be a steroid jacked moron who talks with a deep US accent. Navy Seal, of course. Waxed chest and freshly shampooed hair while he looks down the scope in the blistering heat, his brow pressing against the edge like an ametur.
Could also be an inside job.

Hmmmm, my bet is on a soft-spoken young man who sees his world fall apart, he shall be known as the 'Spite Gunner'

I have reservations against reading an article where the very first thing I see is a fighter operating a PK being labeled an "enigmatic sniper".
Good need more of them. This is causing mayhem in the western world with all the refugees.

Well that's the puzzle, they aren't referred to as the well equipped sniper...

Imagine this sniper being alone or with a few accomplices in an unstable and dangerous country.

It could be a nation state black op.
Or more likely a factional fight.

Last I checked both the Zintan militia (usually seen as more secular) and the Misrata brigade (with an all round nasty reputation) are still active in Libya, isn't entirely plausible that either would have the means and motive for these assassinations.
There are some French Special forces (https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=french+special+forces+in+libya&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&gws_rd=cr&ei=Y4LpVuSCAYLEPcW5gMAJ) in Libya.
