about the ships and trade, how much florins ar you guys getting from it? I tend to be aggressive and make war with almost every factions so the highest florins I can get so far in a province are around 3K max including farming (constantinople gets 4K in peace time).
I want to start a rather peaceful campaign (prolly italian) so I just want to know how much trade we can get from it.
anyone?

depends on the province, extent of trade routes, acumen of govenor and buildings, but I've got provinces like sweden and venice to over 6000 florins.
ya it depends on the province, also does having more ships in sea than other factions make your trade better? ie 2 firegalleys against 1 borque.

my strategy is to make sure i have one ship in every area and then add more . moreover try to take independent rich provinces (sweden was mentioned) , or rich provinces that rebel a lot ( portugal , northern italy)

At certain points in the game provinces gain tradeable goods so that can boost income too. If you have expanded a lot then you wont get all that much because you dont trade with your own provinces, but if you remain small, have a high acumen govenor and upgrade all the way on buildings such as the merchants and agriculture then you can really make a fortune.
My games are usually based on first expanding a bit, then building up a good economy and trade empire and when I have huge amounts of money I build up my army and expand properly.
Whats the most money any of you have had in mtw so far?
i belive the most money i got was...uh....100k using italians....or was it almohads O.o
Playing the Byzantines, owning a good chunk of the world. Was making about 16k profit a year, got up to 474311 florins when the Almohads decided to start trouble. Ten years later barely have 100k and going down fast. Course the Almohads are no more, but the Italians have decided to continue their fight. Grrr. Guess I'm going for total domination now, 1230's.

thanks for the good replies folks, I'm finally playing the italian and managed to stretch my ships from nile to baltic.
I'm playing it rather peacefully compared to my previous campaigns. the year is 1384 and I'm making 30k a year with a balance of 100K (costly active rebel recruitments). The most I can get for the best provinces like venice and constantinople are 5k.
Unfortunately my line of ships is ready after the war broke out so I couldn't get them to go up to 6K like cooperman had. But the bright side is that much lands have fallen to embrace the lordship of the magnificent 75 yr old Doge (only 3 stars, 5 accumen).
Those ships had given him the advantages of amphibious assaults as the desert factions, byzantine, france, sweeden, mongols, parts of UK and spain (roughly in that order) have been kindly submitting their lands to the Italian Doge
The doge is gearing up to replace the young pope with an "experienced" one so he can unite the rest of the world in his palms http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Had I been playing my usual way of gruesome battles I think my econ profits would have been the same... much more lands faster (and rebellions). Garrison costs are comparable if not less ... I can usually get it up to 50K profits towards the end (with only a few trades with small islands depending on the Kings vices & virtues).
Something more to add, I like rebellion since they usually have a few units with 5 or more accumen that we can bribe, hence they are the source of proper governor candidates. So playing hardball is also good for the economy.
Finally, I think the florins flow for both strategies (aggressive vs steady) in this game are pretty much the same. The former involves more interesting SP battles, the later more scheming
Now I'm ready for the next great game sequel ... cheers http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

To answer Kiske's question...no, it doesn't matter how many ships or what ships you have along your trade route.
As long as you have at least ONE ship in each sea region, the trading continues. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Sorry to steal the thread again, but Kensai they came and went like a fart in the wind. They brought a massive 1700 troops into Khazar and I messed them up bad. Wasnt to impressed with the Mongols this time around. Maybe better luck next time.
