Now it won't run!

Hi. Just wondering if anyone can help.

I've played S:TW Warlord edition (Sold Out Games) many times on my PC - Win7, 32 bit. Now suddenly it won't play. I've twice uninstalled it and reinstalled, including the 1.02 patch. When I try to run it nothing at all happens!

This might be due to a Windows Update that was pushed put a few months ago. They removed secdrv.sys, which interferes with the SafeDisc copy protection system. You can try backing out the update, more details here (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?138715-Redux-W7&p=2053677593&viewfull=1#post2053677593).

As it (and this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmjFfgE5gDk ) makes clear Win10 has this update hard coded so it cannot be removed from Win10 although there are ways to switch it on and off ( https://forums.techguy.org/threads/september-2015-windows-updates-kb3086255-breaks-many-games.1155534/ )but they are a pain. This http://www.gameburnworld.com/protectedgameslist.shtml lists the games likely to be affected.

So either you don't play these games or you run temporarily or permanently with a security risk! Wonderful.

Now I'm off to play Oda 1580 (with added security risk).

On a whim I upgraded my pc to windows 10. I downloaded STW from steam and it doesn't work. Made my pc barf a few times actually. It works on my 8.1 laptop though, no problems. Anyone know how to get it to work in windows 10? It really isn't too important, but it would be nice to play on the desktop. Funny thing...I downloaded M2TW as well and windows 10 barfs while 8.1 is fine.

On a side note, my mori campaign on normal difficulty is going well. Defeated Takeda and now I think I am spread too thin as I went after Imagawa and Shimazu at the same time. Need more koku.

Sorry I didn't answer before. I only just noticed your post. Here is a link that might help. It's for EB, but it might work for STW. Since I don't have windows 10 I can't test it for you.
