This is a selection of caslte maps based on historical castles, i hope you all enjoy them. Sorry for the fact that there is less maps that i would have liked, mainly due to the fact that ive been quite busy of late with xmas just arround the corner, and i really wanted to get some of these maps out in the open due to a lot of requests, so here they be.
The Maps include
Krak Des Chevaliers (an updated version from the one already up on the site)
Harlech Castle (a good 'ol Welsh castle built By King Edward II, quite fun to play)
The City of Acre (a map of the city of acre, a coastal seige that eats up ones system)
Mont St Michael (that french castle on and island on a tidal flat with a cathedral, slightly changed for playablilities sake)
Caernarfon Castle (another Welsh castle with a moat, a town and a river... kinda... as best i could withought it crashing)
anyway folks, hope you enjoy it

pretty cool maps, love the crusader ones especially the city of acre.
yeah, acre is a tough one.. and tough to make. I had to endlesly re-arrange those buildings just so there wouldnt be many places where units got stuck. Im hoping to make acre into an historical battle soon as well, which should prove fun
WOW
Absolutely Awesome Map Pack Alro http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I have just played those maps repeatedly and they are simply awesome. Yes indeed the moat is a problem in MTW, wonder why they did not think of that during development.
My personal favorites are Acre, Krak & St Michel. Beautiful.
A hint on Acre: those city streets make perfect hiding places for ....... u guessed it Hashishins http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif
Yes most people think they are useless but they can easily be applied to success on this particular map. Just keep em in a place where the enemy has to pass to engage your main force. Hopefully the enemy army will march right by them and the you can do what the Hashis are so good at, surprise attack. If you split your forces, even better since they may just have a greater chance of surprise.
Great Work Alro http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif
EDIT: Keep em coming
heh, thanks for that little write up sinan, i wont tell them i held a gun to your head http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif
yeah, acre is a tough one, and ive found quite a few fun things to do with it. At the moment im actually looking to creating a historical battle of my acre map, based on the fall of acre at the end of the crusades. That means i get to use the genoese, templars, tuetonic knights, english, french... then the muslims that are seiging.. should make for a most interesting fight
im hoping to have a few online seigse of these maps as well soon, so i hope lots of people are getting tthem http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
*disclaimer*
that was not a plug http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
ok, just a minor glitch with two of the maps that doesnt affect gameplay at all...
the bridges on Krak and Harlech cant be climbed, so your armies march under them, no big deal as they dont span water and are only there for scenerey
any more problems will be apreciated

Great stuff Alrowan
I havent had the chance to try any yet but will tonight sometime.
Aprecitate the almost endlesstime it must have taken to get the walls and stuff just right. I messed around with castle map making but gave up becuase it was so dam difficult to get the alignments for the walls and towers correct and then once you think you have them all correct for some reason half of the walls dont crumble when attacked. so I had begin again grrr... my patience eventualy ran out.
Hey Mods, dont those who contribute maps to the community get a special little logo under their avatar signifying their map making contributions ? I think Alrowan is definetly in the running for one if he keeps this up.
ok, some tips for those maps of yours...
about aligning walls, i use the "snap to edges" feature, that way no hassles abou the walls.
and as for them not falling down when you tset it, simply restart the computor, and they will work fine.
hope i helped you there
I love the maps 2, Alro
They r top quality I wondered how you got the walls so strait...pain in the butt any other way...
Keep em' comin http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
well im taking a break from mapping for a little, trying my hand at a campagin map instead
