Has anyone found out what's after being a 'field defense/attack specialist'?
I have a general with 9 command with expert attacker (+2 command when attacking) and he's a 'field etc. as above' (+3 command when defending). He's also a great leader (+6morale, +3Loyalty), Utterly Fearless (+2valour, +2morale), Steward and a Secret Blood lover (+3dread). The man is unkillable http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif and what other virtues are their for fighting generals other than the one that gives them more health and the 'mighty warrior' one (Or are they the same)?

I think he can get another virtue if he wins when he is outnumbered 2:1 while attacking.

Right now I have a British 8* general with expert defender and specialist attacker, devout, utterly fearless, charming, steward, etc. He pretty led my entire Mediterranean Campaign. He was Mighty Warrior (+1 Valour and +10 Health), Pride (-1 Loyalty +2 Valour), Expert Attacker, Field Defense Specialist, Great Leader, No Mercy (doh&#33http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif, Swift Justice, Steward, Magnificent Builder, Brave Beyond Belief and finally he was a Gentle Knight (compare to No Mercy it makes no sense though).

He was only (before the V&V's) a Rank 7 general...

Yep. I tried to kill off a rather dodgy heir by sending him and his 20 Royal Knights on a solo attack against 300 rebel miltia/peasants.

He and 5 Knights survived and he came out with the Skilled Risky attacker virtue.

I didn't have the heart to get rid of him after that.

That rings a bell, I did get a virtue once while I was defending against an army five times my size. That's less impressive than it sounds becaus I had about 1000 troops and they had about 5000 so I had all my units on at once, they could only have 1/5 of their units on at once so it was like defending against 5 separate armies (although mine were quite knackered by the end of it)

I've got 3 level 9 generals (the other 2 don't have quite such good virtues) and a level 8. I think they were royalty who lost 'heirship' when my King died and the next one took over, so maybe that has something to do with it. It is near the end of the game though, It's still my first campaign (I started it ages ago and I'm playing several simultaneously because I get a little tired of playing the same campaign for so long in one stretch) I'm the Almohads and it's on Easy (so it really is a very easy game http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif ) and there are just the Egyptians left and they've just started a civil war, I have all of Africa, and Europe from the west up to about Moldavia and I have all of the little countries up the west end of the Med. Not long now...

i never get any good gens. when it looks like im getting one they alwasy get cracked brain and other bad V&V, They use to have as many bad VnV as good VnV if im lucky, sometimes the bad are more
