Change faction religion

Hello, since the AI gets systematically excommunicated and the wiped out because of excommunication, i had the idea to change all christian factions to orthodox factions. Or alternatively, make the pope not excommunicate anymore. Is there any way to accomplish this? Thank you.

The behaviour of the Pope is hard-coded, and cannot be modded as far as I know. It should be possible to change faction religion, probably by editing the campaign map and/or startpos files. I don't know the details myself, but you can find threads on this in the M:TW modding fora (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?69-M-TW-Modification).

Would be interesting if could to change the Danish to pagan through out.

I tried changing the Danish to Pagan. It was hard work, with disappointing results.
