Please - what strategies do you use for French in latest period of the game? Attack england or hre early? or spain? What about Swiss which attacks burgundy and I can't beat for the life of me? should I attack them very early? do you know a site I saw long ago giving strategies for france? (I forgot the person's name) thanks

A bit of ideas:
Conquer England:
1.If u plan to conquer italy and therefore papacy shortly (or else you will be excommed and AI will launch annoying crusades on you) then I'd suggest to attack england first.
2. If you can wait, let the english to attack first and get excommed. (ie sacrifice a province by pulling your garrison as a bait then hide in the castle till the english is excommed)
3. I'd let wessex untouched and alienate the english there (make peace as trading partner is not a bad idea). I'd suggest marching to spain rather than to HRE afterwards since campaigning to HRE will spread too many units in many fronts.
4. As for fighting the swish, u need to be more specific on the garrison u and AI have there. If memory serves, they will attack with armoured swish pikemen and a Royal K.
So you will definitely need to have Chivalric MAA, and missile units. Dismount your heavy cavs (ie chiv knights) if they're your main garrison there. But keep a few mounted to sandwich/flank the pikemen. Will need 1 or two spears if they bring Royal Knights (the king I think). Will also need a good general obviously. Good luck http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
5. Inquisitors can kill their generals. Spies can help weaken switzerland too http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Hope that helps ... Cheers http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
