Yesterday playing as the HRE (early - hard), I had just finished conquering Italy when those annoying Sicilian thought it was time for them to smash my poor fleet ... Needless to say my three 700 florins each barques were swiftly destroyed ... Next turn Corsica, Sardinia and Tuscany were invaded, each time by a 300-400 men army ... I had just depleted armies of about 200-300 men (mostly spearmen) ... Luckily enough the Sicilian armies were made of peasants and urban militia and it was not to difficult to win those battles. The good thing is that each Sicilian armies was lead by a king or prince. Once the peasants had run away, it was time for me to be patient since it would take them year before the general would eventually skip. But those silly princes and king chose the brave option and all died on the field of honour ... Next turn, I received a message saying "The king of Sicily has died in battle ... he has no heir ...) ... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

Add to that the fact that I have awesome six heirs who would make the Byzantines blush (all at least five stars, except one who has three stars and gives a +9 morale bonus), that I captured the French king who gave me a 15,600 florins ransom when I got trapped with his 1,500 retreating men ... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

2002 ends really well ...

By the way, happy new year

I should have known it could not last forever... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif

My king (maximum influence, maximum dread, five stars, magnificent builder, great steward, trader, secret rough justice, occasional mercy) has now reached the age of 81 ...

The very good news is that his heir is 70 ... the youngest of his six heirs is 52. They are all married but no childbirth so far ...

Pretty sure they will all die at about the same time I that I can say goodbye to all those six to eight stars generals ...

On top of that ... civil war should be at hand ...

Any brilliant idea ? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/idea.gif

BTW isn't it funny that my king managed to have a son even before he had himself matured ... silly that the computer assimilates all heirs and do not make any difference between heirs and princes who are the son of a dead king but mature after his heir has taken power ...

Noticed something totally new to me. When my king finally died at 88, his heir was 77 but he had been married for something like 55 year to that Russian princess. When he became king I automatically got one heir aged 13 who appeared

First time I find it real interesting to marry heirs...
