Imagine Asia from 1920 to 1950...
The first world war has just passed and a new World power has risen: Japan. Play as Japan, the Soviet Union, Sun Yatsen China, (later) Mao Zedong China, the USA, the dutch Colonies in Indonesia or the British Colonies...
Choose... In case you play as Japan or as Sun Yatsen China you can decide if you want to join the Axis pact and get german Tech. Additionally you can change History like in all TW games: Don't attack Pearl Habour, take Sibiria thats much easyer Or play Japan and allie with China instead of attacking it...
Battles... Imagine the Battles were like in Force Commander, just without bases... Infantry is always commanded in the whole Unit and is automaticaly Fighting after your order through Officers. The Tanks, wagons and Guns can be commanded seperately... Airstrikes are ordered like in Suddenstrike, but you must place a tacbomber unit in the region
Development... You may now build Universitys in your Provinces which provide sience points. With these sience point you can increase the speed in which your sientists may develop new vehicles and weapons. Normal development is automatic, but there is a Blueprint editor: Like in Imperium Galactica you may choose which Armor, gun etc. a vehicle or Ship is equiped with and a price is autocalculated. This way you arn't doomed to lubber with M2A4 Stuarts or old HA-GO Tanks (Off course to stay absolutely Historic you may turn Development off in the Options menu)
Shogun flair... I think all remember Shogun in the best way, and acctually WW2-Japan is a lot Shogun like Officers have Katanas, the Music is like in Shogun, you get Ninjas, Generals do Seppuku... Also your Throneroom will again be a Japanese Castle if you choose Japan Mr.Sensai-Advisor will also have a comeback
Officers... Generals are now not directly connected to their Units. You can use an Officer-Mangager and make your best Generals, Colonels, Majors... head of any Unit and Strikeforce you like
Airforce and Navy... Works like the navy in MTW but option-window to retreat is now given. Airforce works similar to Navy ("Bridges") but can also be placed on land. If you have Airforceunits in a province you can call airstrikes against a building you dislike and get Airstrikes and Navy Canons as additional Artillery in Battles
Why Asia: I would have some problems to play my own Country in an WW2-Europe TW-game (build prison camps to fullfill Honorgoals SHHHHHHH!http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif. And Actually here you have all possebilities in your Hands, in Europe the Allies were already clearly the counterpoint to Germany. Of course, you may play the Soviet Union and attack the west before Hitler gets Power but then Red Alert is greeding Anyway in this position you have more political freedom, as there are only Depots or Colonies as Fractions you may start wars like piss... (like in every total war game) Also the Asian WW2-History is mostly unknown, so get something new
An expansion pack could show the Vietnam war, not really my interesst but maybe for warlike americans...
