View Full Version : How many kills does it take to raise Valour?

I was wondering if anyone knew, or knew where I could find, the number of kills it takes for a unit to increase its valour.

I suppose this could be tested, but it would be difficult if a unit were to lose men, as it would certainly do in the course of normal fighting. As I understand it, the game tracks the kills made by each individual soldier, and the unit valour is the average of all the men in that unit.

I suppose it could be done with a ranged unit of some sort, as long as you were carefull not to lose any...

Does captured vs. killed make a difference here?

As far as I know Valour levels between the two men fighting has a say on when they will rise in Valour.

You can easily see this when bringing a lot of ranged units to fight those massive Peasant rebels. Often they will gain 1-2 Valours with few to no losses, and it is very seldom you can get that against normal enemies.

I have heard that captures count as a quarter kill.

But in earnest I would like to know from other people as well.

Do you get more valour for killing higher-valor men than yourself? This would seem to make sense, but wouldn't it also indicate that revolting peasants have high valour?

It depends on what you kill too. Killing an heir or king gives a lot of points raising the valor of the individual soldier by a few points from what I've heard.

What I meant by killing peasants was that you kill so many easily (100 mean in tight formation with 1 Armour, can't get easier with bows) with very few losses to yourself. In normal battles you often lose the guys that has killed many enemies. You can see this in the logfiles.

Killing a king is equal to killing about 50 normal soldiers. The now gone Gil I think said this. Sadly he never said how much a prince was worth or a normal general (perhaps it depends on Rank?).

I did make some test about that, but it wasn`t very worthwhile. If you get valour seems to depend on 3 things:
the valour of the enemy you kill, your basic valour, the kind of unit you kill. And of course the number of kills. So, that makes 4 things it demends on. Also, ranged doesn`t seem to bring as much valour, so we have 5 ...

Just rember, that valour is individual. So if you have a unit of valour 2 MAA, it is the average of the whole unit. One soldier might have 0, another veteran might have 4. This is good, IMO.
I would guess the amount kills pr. valour is like in shogun. Tho I might be incorrect.

Well if one FMAA V0 meets another FMAA of V0 then he needs to only kill one guy to get one Valour and another to get a second, and another two to get the third, so it is quite easy to get the first if you have a good general (but then this calculation runs down the drain). And if it is an inferior unit such as Spearmen, then they need to perhaps kill 3 to get 1 Valour...
