View Full Version : One humble question
It was stated earlier that the two campaigns, Viking and Normal, would be separate. However, I would like to know if their will be any custom support for the two campaigns ie. will civs from the Viking campaign be able to fight against civs from the Regular campaign in custom battles? When the Mongol Expansion came out for Shogun, I was a little annoyed that I could not test out strategies using Mongol units against traditional Japanese units. Limits on units such as Ashigaru Crossbowmen were also annoying, as I would have liked to have had an alternative to Samurai Archers in the campaign as well as skirmish.
-Thanks
I doubt it...
But if the units for each faction are fully developed we should be able to make a fulfilling battle despite the difference. But I guess that most units will be comparable to Early units for the other factions.
What I fear is that the units in the new expansion will be shorthanded so that playing a custom map would give you very limited unit choices. That means that in order to use a cool unit from the campaign, you have nothing else to use or fight with except the other units, which may or may not intrest you.

I hope they r going to be able but i doubt it for one big reason:
wouldnt the early units get massacred every time???
i mean there 500 years before the main units so shouldnt their armour weapons etc. not be as good as the originals.
its like sending a panzer division against napoleon.
That's what I though with Shogun; however, not so You can get crossbows in the Mongol campaign but not regular? The crossbow is fairly advanced, and if they have it in the Mongol Invasion, shouldn't they have it in the main campaign, which is later?

the crossbow is fairly ancient, i am not sure of the dates but the Chinese had the crossbow for hundreds of years before the time of the mongol invasion. I could be wrong and if so please correct me lol http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

actually armor of the dark ages is basically the same as armor until the mid-late 1200s, only then did plate really start appearing, and even then most did not have access to that armor.
chain mail and other armors that were around in 1100 were the saem as 400s armor and back even

I'm not of the exact time Xbows were invented but the Chinese were using them already in the Warring States period from about 475BC... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif
there could be a way of doing it, and im sure the modding community will do there best
