View Full Version : Changes in Trade Mechanics
I installed a 4-acumen governor in recently conquered Rum and the income from inland trade shot up. Looking at Constantinople, income from inland trade and trade with other provinces are the same so maybe all trading is affected by this change.
Also, I didn't recall seeing 3 trade goods in Sicily before. I thought it was only 2. Same with Lesser Armenia and Edessa having the same 3 trade goods. I recall one of them only having 2.
Does anybody have a link to the forum post in the old forum about how much each trade good is worth? I can't find it in the archives.
Ok, I tested and confirmed it in game. Acumen now affects trade income after the patch. No wonder I get 2k trade income from Constantinople on normal taxes trading with half the map. Antioch is going to be really nice.

I hadn't caught that it was only post-patch... I've been surprised the firdst time I saw that, but hadn't guessed...
Makes Acumen faaaar more powerful. 8 acumen in Flanders with 20 customers linked by ships is enormous.
I hate the way the game trades, I wanted diplomacy options to create "trade routes"
Not just dump a ship in the water and it magicaly trades with all nations it can.
I think trade should be diplomatic, maybe in Rome Total War?
What I'd like to see as a change (in addition to AI improvements, of course) is trade competition lessening the profits you can make.
In other words, more merchants carrying trade into a port = less profit for each trade route going to that port.
So yeah, while I can see the enormous trade profits you can make in MTW being realistic when you have unopposed monopolies, I think when competitors trade ships enter the fray, profits for everyone should go down, IMO. Encourages trade wars that way, so gameplay and strategy enhanced as well

Not sure what you mean, Acumen has always effected income both post- and pre- patch.
A governor's acumen effects all trade emanating from that province.
The consensus among people on this board before the patch is that acumen only affects farm income. IIRC, some people actually tested and confirmed that trade wasn't affected by acumen. It is affected now.
