Do any of you use Inquisitors in SP?
I do but for the most part I get them the hell out of my provences and have them wreak havoc in my opponents territory. I have found that they work quite well for shutting down possible rebelions once I have taken the provence. In that they seem to happen less or not at all.
Any hints on how to raise the valour of your Inquisitors? Or even what determines the bodycount for an Inquisition?
I've had bodycounts of 4000 from a 1 valour Inquisitor and 200 from a level 4. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif

I use Inquistors to kill an enemy general every turn. There's always some heretics lurking in your enemies ranks and it's pretty easy to raise their valour by just going after enemy generals every chance possible. Granted that they have a decent chance of succeeding in their Inquistion. As for just having them burn people in enemy provinces I don't see any advantage to that because all it does is lower zeal I believe.
I have never found them useful for me, Im a war guy, I just march in and take over, I don't prevoke rebellions or such before hand.

I've tried to use inquisitors to take out enemy generals, but I haven't had much success. They always seem to be so much more interested in buring people at the stake than they are in killing pesky generals.
Question- I know it's impossible for a low valor Inquisitor to kill the Pope, but could, say, a Grand Inquisitor with max valour do that? Oh man, would that be sweet... @#*$% Pope always interfering in my wars.... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif
No one expects the Spanish Inquisition http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

It has been done, I believe. I spend a lot of spare time trying to achieve this, but no luck so far however ..

One thing is for sure:
Don´t underestimate the power of the Inquisitors...
It´s allmost a reborn Darth Wader in disguise
At one time i forgot one of those devils in one of my provinces, and several turns later all hell broke loose
Used matches all over the place - people were on fire and there was no more stakes in sight http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Had to rush the bastard out of the region, but it still rebells several turns later...

i've used inquisitors a lot, and found them to be really useful. trouble is now i've got a Papal lvl 5 inquisitor who has been burning my generals for around 100 years, and I just can't seem to assasinate him. its doubly annoying as the almohads hold most of spain and france, the egyptians have reached poland and its just me (italians) and the sicilians holding back the muslim hordes, the rest of the catholic factions are still there, but with hardly any provinces left between them. the pope is even allowing me crusades for free, but still his inquisitor keeps on stoking them bonfires.... damn AI is always picking on the player...

Rulers are very difficult to burn but heirs aren`t. With a grand inquisitor I decimated once the Sicilian royal family. Got some high level generals too. In provinces with high zeal you can kill almost everyone with a high valour grand inquisitor.
What factors beside these affect the possibility for an inquisitor to toast an enemy genenreal:
1) inquisitor valor
2) prov zeal
3) target piety
Sometimes I'll try a taget and get 0%, a few turns later it's 48% in the same prov. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif
Im have grand inqustior but what are they good for?

Use your Inquisitors in your own provinces to lower zeal. That way your pesky neighbor won't steal too many of your troops when he goes on Crusade. When starting out with 0 valor Inquisitors, attack generals with little or no piety or command stars first. You'll have much better luck burning these low level generals and increasing the valor of you Inquisitors. Once you get an Inquisitor with 2-3 stars, then you can go after bigger game. If you fail at first, keep after your target with subsequent inquisitions. You'll notice that eventually your target general will develop the Atheist vice, making him more susceptible to being on the menu at the next Inquisitors Barbeque. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Oh I thought that they raised the zeal http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Initally they do raise the zeal, but after awhile the zeal get very high and then the Inquistor goes on a rampage and burns 1000s of people. After that zeal is cut in 1/2 because people get mad at the church.

Thanks MacGregor, I didn't explain the zeal thing fully. The zeal does go up at first till the Inquisition starts killing people by the thousands, then the zeal drops. Sorry about the confusion Xer0. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif
In the game descprtion of the Grand inqusitior it said that they would raise the sell but nothing about that they would lower it eventelly.
I don't know where I got this impression from, but I thought the number of people killed by an inquisitor reduced the income from the province?

I don't know about that Jampe, I never payed attention to it, but it should. Hard to be productive when you kill large portions of the population.
Having problems with the Pope Excommunicating you when you're trying to teach the other Catholic nations a lesson? A lvl 4 Grand Inquisitor is your best friend.
I had finally trained one up to lvl 4 on enemy generals and faction Heirs, when I got Excommunicated. Enough is enough, I thought, and sent the Grand Inquisitor to Rome to have a chat with the Pope. Negotiations went no-where so my Inquisitr decided to try the agressive approach. After one year on trial, the Pope was revealed as an Atheist. After the next year of trial, my Inquisitor burned the Pope as a heretic. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
It then seemed that my Inquisitor got a taste for Papicide.. the Papacy went through four Popes in four years, the Cardinals were constantly electing heretics to the position... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif
I then decided that my message had been put forth, and left the next Pope alive. The Inquisitor has taken up residence in Rome to 'observe' the current Pope, just in case he looks like he's going to Excommunicate me again. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
