Today my Firefox ESR (52.5.0) browser blocked access to the forum because of an obsolete certificate.
Is that an error on part of the forum or my browser?

You likely got the error as we were in the process of switching to a SSL connection. That process is now (more or less) complete.

Do you still get the error? In most browsers, your browser should now have a green padlock next to the URL. I think it's just a padlock in Edge.
