I know it works on XP but I've never tried it on ME/Vista.

It's testing my memory but I'm pretty sure I played it on Win7.

With the right hardware and maybe a few tweaks, the disk version of the game could work up to at least Win 7, but definitely not Win 10. The Steam version will work through to Win 10.

The last "disc" versions of the game had numerous issues with newer hardware, particularly newer graphics hardware and video drivers. I remember Intel graphics chips being problematic. But even some graphics cards, now considered old and obsolete were problematic and required workarounds (see stickies section).

Various old Radeon and Geforce cards also had problems with slow load screens under Windows XP, but I seem to remember that Windows 7 was not affected. So as a general rule, you're probably better off with either (very) old hardware and XP or newer hardware and Windows 7.

I know zero about the steam version as that's a platform I've never used.

It works fine on Vista.

[ Well, I say fine, but there are periodic drops to desktop, and a few crashes ( sometimes between multiple battles ) . I am unsure if these are caused by the O/S or just Bugs ! ]
