View Full Version : Gamespy in RTW?
Anyone know if CA is gonna use gamespy in RTW? I hope not, CA plz have your own service not gamespy http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pissed.gif
um,
gamespy is 210% more stable than the EA foyer...
i think it's most likely a contractual obligation to use gamespy

Ok heres wat all the MP stability moaners need to know
Its not gamespy that is bugged its medievals internal server witch is merely powered by gamespy.
Go buy battlefield 1942 or unreal tourney 2003 or cossacks and use gamespy for the mp. u will notice that there are vry vry few bugs.
the whole bugged MP thing is only cos i believe MTW was rushed and released before the devs got a chance to iron out the creases in the MP aspect of the game.
all i ask is that if ur gonna moan about sumthing at least know wat ur moaning about.
in short Blame CA not Gamespy
Ok, I'm not as informed as I should be, and if gamespy isn't the problem then I have no problem. I do know that online STW was less buggy than MTW, so I was quick to blame gamespy http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

the reason why mp is bugged is becasue the CA devs (acutally only person was allocated to mp) were only given a very short time to put together the mp code. i cant remember the exact time frame but it was far shorter than the 12 months a whole CA team were given to work on the sp aspects. i think it was something like 2 months or something maybe much less.
+ mp for a game like MTW is much more complicated than a first person shooter. eg in a fps if you get out of synch with the other players you just jump in time a little bit, while in mtw if you get out of synch the nature of the game according to a dev means it is impossible to get back into synch so your dropped.
who to blame
CA managment ?
Activision ?
probably a combination of both.
