View Full Version : Logic's Mafia Game Signup and Poll
Alright, I am recruiting for my first Org-hosted game (and only my second hosted game overall.) I would love to see you all play, but I understand if you elect not to. I may elect to invite outside players (from Giant in the Playground) to fill any needed slots. I'd love to have larger game, but will run with what I have.

Yay! Now we have 3. I was about to "rand" Csargo as mafia, and hand him the win for reaching parity with town.

Not on my watch, especially a Sooh hasn't done an ISO of his posts.

At this rate it'll probably never happen.

Why can't I quit you, Logic?
Why can't I quit you, Logic?
The fact that you got a serial killer role in my last game might have something to do with it. That, or maybe my sunny disposition?

What bastard just broke the tie between South Park and Star Wars: Rebels?

I intentionally hid the results so no one would know unless you were watching the poll throughout. And it's not tied, Star Wars: Rebels is ahead by 2 to 1.

That was my point exactly, you Kenny-killing bastard.
Lexi is here to play, upon invite. :) All hail Lexi, Queen of the Henchpixies! :hail::whip:

any details about what type of game this is going to be?

Power-limited, possibly 1 or 2 hidden mechanics (no where near the level of "Bond" for those that remember that game.
No scanning, possibly a voyeur role in lieu of a tracker. If Rebels, town is Empire, and Rebel Scum.
If South Park, town and scum will be independent of any cohesive "faction."

You bastard! If you cannot parse my messages correctly I'll switch to console mode.

Voyeur, eh?

With the poll ending on the 11th, and it looks like I am only going to get about 9 players, I am figuring out the power roles now, which may vary depending on if South Park pulls ahead in a surprise twist. I've got the Rebels-themed roles mostly nailed down, I'm just looking them over to make sure they aren't too mechanically wacky.

Watcher works as well. I just happen to prefer the term voyeur to watcher. (Double entendre not intended.)
Just so everyone is clear: there remains only about 18 hours to cast a vote for theme or sign up, and I plan to hand out roles as soon as possible thereafter, with the game intending to start at 10 AM PDT tomorrow.
Phase end times will be 10 AM PDT. (UTC-7)
48 hour days, 24 hour nights.
No outside communication about the game unless you are given the capability at the start of game.
Please no editing of posts.
Full rules will be provided at the start of the game thread.
Any questions, please ask now.
I shall be shamelessly copying using Zack's recent Hearthstone game for formatting purposes (thanks to Askthepizzaguy, by way of Zack.)

Unfortunately. I didn't see this until the end of my day. In short, Hearthstone's rules until otherwise specified.
I misjudged my days: I thought the 11th was one day earlier in the week. I shall rand at that time.
Assuming Rebels for the moment:

Game Information:
- This game is based on the Star Wars: Rebels TV show. The mafia are the protagonists of the show and the town are Imperial Antagonists that appear within. There are at most 3 mafia and seven town.
- There will be no cults, no jesters, no roles which can influence voting / the lynch, no false alignment reveals. No bastard mechanics.
- There are more roles than I initially intended, but I wouldn't call it role madness. It also might not be totally balanced.
- 48 hour day, 24 hour night. Phase change at 10 AM PDT.
- There is night chat, but I will implement brief no-posting times around the deadlines.
- Several of the last few games got intense and didn't end well, so hopefully this can be a bit more fun & friendly to serve as something of an additional palate cleanser, and also get this section going again.
Player List: 9
Csargo
El Barto
GeneralHankerchief
Lex-Kat
Manasi
Montmorency
Snerk
Sooh
Zack
Sub List:
none at this time
1. Role PMs:
Don't talk about the role PM, except that you may say what role and alignment you are, any powers you may have.
Do not quote your role PM, do not screenshot your role PM. Don't talk about what time you got the role PM. Don't challenge people to prove their town status by describing the layout or formatting of the role PM. Do not reference it, explicitly or in a way that bends around the spirit of "don't discuss your Role PM." Do not speculate what is in someone's Role PM, do not refer to any wording or pictures in your Role PM, I'd prefer if you refrain from saying "Role PM" altogether. That's not what this game is about.
2. Outside communication:
Don't talk about this game outside the game thread or mafia chat.
Do not talk about this game with spectators or other players, publicly or privately, outside of this game thread. Unless the game host has given you a specific communication channel to use, private communications are not allowed in this game.
Also, do not talk about other ongoing games in this thread.
3. Voting
Vote: Zapp Brannigan
During the Day phase, you must Vote: in bold, with a colon (I count votes using ctrl + f "Vote:", so this makes it a lot easier for me). You do not need to unvote to vote for someone else. If you want to unvote, use Vote: Unvote even though it looks weird. To vote for no lynch, use Vote: No Lynch.
Hiding your vote in a spoiler, or some other weird thing, is a good idea if you like not having your vote count.
There is no mechanic for "hammering" a majority lynch before the deadline, and there won't be locked votes in mustlynch.
4. Activity
Post and vote at least a few times each Day phase.
If you go an entire day phase (48 hours) without any game-relevant posts [e.g. a single post saying "sorry I'm out all day" does not count], I will replace or modkill you, depending on sub availability. If there's a potential issue with your schedule, let me know and we can work it out.
There is no activity requirement for night.
5. Phase lengths
48 hour days, 24 hour nights
I know some people like longer or shorter phases, but this is the compromise we all have to live with. Phases end at 10 AM United States Pacific time. I believe this is 5 PM GMT.
6. The right to edit posts
Please do not edit your posts. I will permit a one minute grace period.
The first time is a warning. The second time your vote doesn't count that phase, third time is a modkill. Pretty simple rule, there's no reason you can't follow it.
If an edited post contains a vote or unvote, that vote doesn't exist and I will act as if it never happened.
7. Tied votes
First past the post.
If there is a tie, the first wagon to get to that total will be lynched. For example:
Bob has 4 votes.
Fred has 3 votes.
Someone changes to Fred, putting him at 4 votes.
If Bob is still at 4 votes, Bob is lynched.
I use this method because it avoids random chance having a significant influence on the game's outcome, and also avoids delaying the game or being overly complex.
8. Flavor gaming
I'll discourage it, but it's not explicitly disallowed. It will, however, be useless.
10. Victory
Town wins when both mafia have been eliminated. Mafia wins when they reach parity with town, or parity is mechanically unavoidable.
11. Sample Role PM
“Make no mistake. From now on, failure will have consequences.”

Player, you are Grand Moff Tarkin.
You are Vanilla Town.
You win when both of the mafia are eliminated.
Good luck, have fun, read the rules, PM me with any questions.
12. Anything else
If you have a question about anything else, ask me PRIVATELY. I will not answer or address questions asked publicly. Any complaints/critiques about the game setup during the game may be directed privately. After the game, you may complain or critique about setup publicly if you desire, but please keep such concerns constructive.
* I just remembered - when a player is lynched or dies their full role and alignment will be truthfully revealed.
These rules were mostly copy-pasted from Zack's Heathstone Mafia, which was itself copied from ATPG's Pokemon Mafia.
the rules still say 4 pm EDT for phase change instead of 10 am PDT :book2:

There. It's been fixed!
Rebels confirmed. Apologies to the only player that would have preferred South Park instead.

From a moral non-bastard POV the only option was to vote for South Park.
btw that's it, I'm off to watch South Park.
