From the R:TW sreenshots I can see that we will also have a first person view of our armies,it just looks like u can see their faces http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif
I think this will be VERY hardware demanding

well no actualy

heres wat ive read either on the main site or in pc gamer

"RTW's system specs are only slightly higher than MTW's"

so basicly u should be able to run RTW if u can run MTW smoothly.

The models don't look like they have high polygon counts, just good texturing, so I see why it's possible. They might be using the "muliple mesh" technique, so when you zoom out the polygon count per model goes down.

to use all the features of MTW at their fullest, you need a pretty good system anyway

ultimately it's not the graphics that concern me here
it's more to do with the contents
Rome .... dunno about u but i feel this is gonna be full of civil wars and fighting off rebels... Only about 3 nations that could stand up to Romans
to me CA has taken the wrong road ... the game sounds more and more like something out of StrongHold or Empire Earth eg. Introduction of wonders Lmao hehehe i can't stop laughing. However i still hold hope about the graphics due to this quote from PC gamers "...even in their early,to-be-changed models". Also the map does sound to be more better coz u can see ur army marching along the map...and other things such as earier to set up ambushes and building forts to protect mountain passes

Yeah well u could do some of this zooming in Empire Earth, but I really hope we won't have 2 fight tons of rebels again.......... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

yeah fighting rebels is starting to turn this series "tits up"

i hope there are some ocasions but they should not be anywhere as regular as they are now. simply becos there wherent that many rebelions in history.

Well, Rome had a civil war about every 20 years, so this would be appropriate historically...if perhaps frustrating to the player.

Where would you have set the next Total War game???

I would have set it in renaisance, but I'm happy let them practice with the engine and rome will rock my world too, so I'm not complaining (much:rolleyes:.)

No thankyou I agree rome will be better for a while until the engine can do field fortification and the like http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif but when they can renaissance is prob the best historical thing you could make. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Neh Rome: Total War even though there will be some problems with the lack of nations (if there's gonna be) I'd rather get that than Renaissance: Total War

If you never played Total War, and you saw either Rome: Total War or Renaissance: Total War, which would you pick? I'm guessing most ppl who haven't played Total War and don't pay attention to history class will most likely pick Rome: Total War

I don't know what history books you guys have been reading but during the earlier days of the Roman Republic both Europe and Western Asia was anyone's game

For the sake of game balance in the 'grand campaign' game (if there is one) it is my guess that the timeline in Rome Total War will likely begin before the first Punic War (264 BC) and end sometime in the 1st or 2nd century AD. If we're lucky maybe CA will begin Rome shortly after Alexander's death (323 BC) to give us some more turns during those wild days when the Mediterranean was up for grabs. Anyway, beginning in the 3rd century BC also leaves plenty of minor factions around to spice things up. To be honest I can't see CA starting the game much later because by 100 BC most major and minor factions in the Mediterranean were already defeated by Rome

On a different note, as much as I love seeing Rome as the primary subject of the next Total War game I would hate to see the other major factions of that era get the cold shoulder from CA, especially in terms of minor campaigns and historical battles.

If you play romans you only play a consul and there fore only control a small fraction of rome's land.
And the senate give you missions which you can accept or decline. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Looks like you will be able to zoom right up to almost FPS view. I think that's great

Also i always thought that TW could take some tips on diplomacy and nation building from Civ. Fortunately looks like CA has done so.
Just long to see more city based construction. It's nice to have one Spearmaker for the whole of Muscovy http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif but I'd much rather prefer to make multiple unit training facilities in the same province albeit in differnt cities.
I wonder how far RTW will improve over MTW in this regard.

And what just do you think that The Renaissance could offer new to the Total War genre??

I would have set it in renaisance

Or Total Civil War, and Total Civil War: Gettysburg as an xpac. I would rather see RTW first though, charging with greek spears in massed formation seems too appealing.

Field fortifications massive seiges. Major battles. Really in depth diolomacy. Exciting sea wars/battles.
In other words just as much as any other wars http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif . Only cooler http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif
