Okay I know that different difficulties will result in more or less Florins at the start, but are there any other important things that are different from lets say Normal and Expert? Like maybe if the AI will ally with you more easily in easier modes, and they might be smarter/dumber on battlefields in different difficulties?

could the AI be any dumber than it already is on expert?

The difference in the difficulty levels, I believe can be seen most clearly on the Strat Map. Most obvious is as you move from Easy to Expert, preventing Rebellions requires greater attention and action.
I believe that on the battlefield, AI troops have a morale penalty, or bonus, depending on the difficulty. I think that at "Hard" the bonus is zero ie: balanced.
