I know there have been similiar posts on this but just to reconfirm, does dread effect either army on the battlefield?

I believe that the higher the dread rating of your general, the more fear is instilled in the enemy army.
Makes them more likely to rout.

Dread has no effect on the battlefield whatsoever.
It is used on the Strat map only, for purposes of province Loyalty.

Sass, if you look through the forum there is a thread with a full page of modifiers of the morale of your troops. I cannot recall its name, but I have this document saved or my own games...

Your dread rating comes from your actions on the battlefield, but does not effect the battlefield...

Personally I like the idea..
