This... was not received well.

And understandably so because esentially TW 3 Kingdoms has stopped being in development and as a result, we are looking towards a Warhammer trilogy style from TW being the new norm. Esentially expect a TW 3 Kingdoms part 2, TW3K2, which will focus on the actual period of the Three Kingdoms.

Important point to note - this time, apparently, there will be no Records mode. So the historical TW is essentially... gone.

Official support for 3K is ending. Patch 1.7.1 is the last officially planned patch.
Northern Expansion was originally planned but the plans changed
Pre-production has begun on a new game, "Based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms"
This new game will not connect to the first like the Warhammer games
This will not a mobile game
They will likely not be talking about the new game anymore this year

Honestly this is pretty terrible. I have no idea why they would go this direction, and it really seems like they are throwing all historical TW players under the bus after the RTW remaster.

Frankly speaking I am a bit scared this is the end of the historical TW series as we know and love.

What I find very telling is the absence of any mention of Records mode about the future TW3K, I think it's gone for good.

Unfortunately, the radio silence about historical TW int he past 6 months or so is not good news at all. The only focus is Warhammer and nothing else.

Extremely disappointing.

I hope they get the history right this time. But their past historical games leave me little hope. Their past mistakes aren't a big issue since it's just a game, but I think they'd do much better if they paid more attention to the history.
