I shall cast the first stone and implicate the Sicilians as the worst backstabbing, ship-sinking, province stealing, alliance breaking mongrel faction to ever grace a TW game It doesn't matter who you are playing or what the political circumstances may be, those buggers are going to invent new ways to screw up your plans

Finally having that off my chest (whew I feel better&#33http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif, I'd like to apologize to any mafia descendants of the afore mentioned Sicilians as I am certain that CA merely has something against you and took it out in their programming So send any horse heads in their direction.

For some reason, the French are first to go in most of my campaigns..at least the ones where I share a border with them. This might be due to thier being in the center of Europe, or that they often seem to get many enemys and become public enemy #1, thus an easy target which doesn't break alliances and in the case where the French or excomm, even the Pope is happy. It depends on who I play. Usually I go right for the Almohads. On the other end, the factions I never try to destroy are the People of Novgorod, the Turks, the Pope, and the Germans - not that they don't end up extinct in most games anyway.

I, too would have to say the French, if for no other reason than they always seem to eliminate the English in my games and end up a major power.

For me it has to be the Sicilians. I finally tried an Italian campaign (had avoided it because it looked easy) and the Sicilians had to go as soon as possible since they blocked all naval movement. They also took Naples one turn before I was going to...AI seems to have a "sixth sense" about when I'm going to strike. When playing other factions Sicilians were always either breaking alliances with me or failing to ever accept one, regardless of how badly outgunned they were.

I no longer kill factions when I am going for a win. They each get there own little province where I some times send and amry, drive them into a fort after they take loses and then release them. Dead Factions come back with bad timing.

I dislike the Italians. When ever I seem to put trade routes in their waters they sink them. I cannot sink thiers due to excommunication and I cannot attack due to no mutual borders (unless HRE where they are my first victims).

Ugh...the French are the worst. So far I've actually allied with the Sicilians as HRE, and my ships are nowhere near theirs, so no problems. But the French....first they attack me without getting excommed, and I take back my provinces with a Pope warning. Then I get pissed, and destoy their entire faction in three turns, and the Pope was thankfully silent. They reappear and obliterate all English on the continent, and now the Brits won't come off their damn island to help me. Of course, I'm now really pissed at the Hungarians, Italins and Danes as well. The Danes broke their alliance with me and took Saxony, destroying almost all of my buildings I was about to build gothic knights and the Italians and Hungarians are ganging up on me now in Austria...they suck too.

Usually do my best to help the Spanish destroy the Almohads since once they get rolling they are difficult to stop. Even if they get very powerful, the Spaniards can be sent straight into civil war with the help of a few grand inquisitors ...

The damn French. Even when I try to play peacefully with the English and HRE, the French always stupidly start a war with me - and promptly get their asses kicked When will those stupid baguette eaters ever learn?
