Ok,

Can they be controlled on how the enter the game?
I know u can look before battle (by swapping through reinforcements)how the units are listed after each other and how they then will enter as reinforcements and so you can control a bit how they enter the battle.

Now my question, is it also so that the reinforcements are listed the same way as the units are listed in the Army in the Strategic view (map view).

So in effect, before entering in a battle (before turn-end) setting the units so in a army like you would like them to come into the battle.
And what if u have 2 or 3 army stacks?

OR are the in-battle reinforcements listed completely random and has nothing to do with the strategic part?

Anybody has some info on this?

thnx,

confused http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif But in the viking invasion they are going to allow you to decide on which units enter and when, although i dont know the formula it uses at the moment as it would take far too much testing for an aspect of the game i think is poor, I never use reinforcements anyhow except to chase routers in big battles.

When you're playing in expert and defending with 1600 men against 8000 well equiped egyptians, it does matter.

I have found a way to change the order of how units come into the battle. (bit fiddling though)

let say your reinforcment que like this:

knights(1), peasants, spear, knights(2),Bow,Bow, Catapult,Catapult,

I really would like both knights (1 and 2) next to each other

what I do then is this. (pre-battle)

Replace the an on-field unit X with the peasants.
Replace the an on-field unit Y with the knights (2)

que looks like this:
knights(1), X , spear, Y, Bow,Bow, Catapult,Catapult.

Then I replace unit X with the now on-field unit knights(2)

this gives in the reinforments que,
knights(1), knights(2), spear, Y, Bow, Bow, Catapult, Catapult.

Voila.

Bit work, but can be done.
WOULD be easier if the Strategic view of the units in an armystack where the same as on the reinforcment que. (havn't checked yet, But I believe it is so)

what would be really nice is the ability to put units into reserve in the middle of the battle.

Ex. When you fight a big army, and you manage to rout the first flow with mostly cavelery. Then the enemy brings out 16 units of pike man. It would be nice to send your cavelry into the resrve and bring out the arches. (in my game i made the arches 3 times more leathel and expensive, so they can actually kill something, but cost an arm and a leg)

The lack of this feature is the main reason why i let the AI fight big battles. I;m tiered of routing perfecly good unites off the field to bring out the reserve.
