Historical Campaigns

[Brutal DLX]

Hi there,

I've been playing some of those Historical Campaigns lately, and finished the English and Barbarossa campaigns, however, I do have some problems with the French 100 Years war campaign, the first battle is easy, but the second, Loire Valley, where you have to assault the castle continues to give me trouble and i've tried it three times already.
There's always going something wrong, like Jeanne getting killed by a lucky shot from the arrow towers, or those English Chivalric Footknights near the gatehouse slaughtering my men even when being attacked from front and rear, or my cavalry charge getting stalled by his longbowmen in combination with the massive chivalric knights of his own...

So, it would be helpful if someone who won this battle could give me some hints as to how they went about in their assault, because I really don't know how what to change, I destroyed most walls with the siege artillery and even managed to kill some troops with it, though not many casualties due to low accuracy...

It seems all these campaign battles are either totally short and easy, or do require some sort of trick. I guess the castle assault is of the latter sort, although I just can't find out how..and this vexes me greatly, so to speak...

The "trick" is to use all your artillery to batter the side of the castle where there is no curtain wall, move your entire army around to there (once you've KO'd the pesky French reinforcements), and then charge up through the gap all at once - heavy infantry in front, knights behind to attack flanks, etc.

If you get most of your army inside you outnumber the defenders by over 100 men and you win the game.

Ok for the first mission here is what I did. First send 1 horse unit double quick to destroy the thing (forgot the name but u gotta destory 4, lol) on ur left side, then send 2 units of foot in that direction send, joan to get the one on the top right of the screen (noone will chase her there) and then send ur other horse unit out to the immediate right, have him run around the men while u have 2 more units foot coming up to help. Send that horse unit to the 3rd thingy, lol then remember that first guy u sent out? focuse on him, he should be close, now just run around all the men there and get to that thing, now take joan and have her attack the unguarded 4th and final thingy on the top left.

If u have to watch ur horse units and double click continually on those thingy's, sometimes they get distracted and will try to attack men

Im also stuck on that bast*** of a mission. The second one, the first one is a breeze, except all my men got slaughtered and I got my cavalry to just run round and get the ballistas

The second one is soooooooooooooooo hard, Joan survives but my men usually rout and then Joan ends up routing with them.

on the first one i just went out with to untis of knights and they took 2 ballsitas each, peice of cake.

The second is just as fucked up for me as for everyone else, they ahve like 200 Chivalaric knigths or something liek that, just impossible. Even on easy.
