After, submerging myself deep into the Collesuem and looking at some RTW screenshots I was knocked out by the lavish terrain, and units.
As I came to I decided to muck around on MTW. I choose a custom battle, as The Turks and decided to blow the Almohads to hell. I bought 5 units of heavy jannisary infantry, with full valour, attack and armor. The enemy had full units capacity, made up of Milita Sergeants, and Almohad Urban Militia and peasants, with 2 armor.
I charged them with my Jannisarys and my generals unit ploughed staight through the middle of the enemy killing 500 men in the end. I was amazed to see my men, circled by the enemy fighting bravely, killing an enemy every second.
The final battle summary was the enemy lost 1112 men, 60 taken and I lost 10

JHI are a tough unit but with max v,a and w all units are supermen

Jannisary heavy Infantry are one of the most powerful units in the game, even before you gave them all those bonus valour and weapon points Although AUM are a lot better than UM they stand NO chance against even a basic Jannisary heavy Infantry With five Jannisary heavy Infantry units at that quality, there isnt a lot that can beat you (well ok maybe but not a lot!http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
just a small note when it comes to MP. Most people dont get any more than v1 JHI, now V3 halbreds for a cheaper cost actually eat JHI alive... go figure

As far as I know Halberds are not available to Turks.
The choice for turks is JHI or.. Pretty much nothing for cav killing (Muhawid?).
The good news with V1 JHI vs V3 Halberd is that JHI can actually gain valour in battle making them better whereas V3 Halberd are very unlikely to get to v4.
The real question is by playing Turk do you want to sacrifice the ability to get v3 Halberd or not. If you have any idea in mind that makes this sacrifice interesting, then you will be happy to find a reliable v1 JHI instead of Halberd.
On top of that JHI end up with higher speed and better honor.
I agree that more than V1 JHI is useless and way too expensive. But I am not sure that they are not a better alternative than v3 Halberds.
To be tested.

Forget about Halberdiers being superior to JHI, they are only a counter to them.
Pav Arbs hurt JHI and the whole Turkish faction the most.

Not being one of the MP type people (i break out in hives whenever i lose to "real' people) i can't really comment on their MP prowess or lack thereof.
In SP however i can admit that the Turks are one of my favourite factions mostly because of these guys. I know that some units maybe able to beat them in a fight. But for all round goodness it's hard to beat these guys. I mean good defense, great attack, fast and anti-cav. Field an army of these add some JI and you're unstoppable. They are in my opinion "almost" the best unit in the game, simply on account of how versatile they are.
JHI is excellent against cavalry. When they fight against it the number of cavalrymen reduces as seconds fly away in timer clock. Impressive
But against advanced infantry (like feudal foot knights) they like armless peasants. I was looking forward them when playing Turkish but got very dissapointed when saw them in battle.

JHI are the best infantry in my opinion.
While Varagians and Gothic Foot Knights can beat them H2H,neither of these 2 are fast,and they don;t get bonuses vs cav.
What I like best is that they are fast,and have AP,so u can flank heavily armoured units easy and defeat them.
Also they can defeat any cav unit in thy game.

so hth they are evenly matched altough they halb are cheaper .
but fielding a morale six unit frontline is a bad idea IMO,
one cav charge and the're gone .
I'll take morale 12 mobile jhi anyday.
I've tried using halbs in mp a lot ,their bad morale and slow speed makes them almost worthless
CA made Halberdiers with weak morale to balance them, so I guess they'd be useless in MP (no way to increase their morale), but in SP they are the hidden tank that unhinges the game (most underrated unit) Just make them in a province with church, monestary, reliquary and/or cathedral and they stand up to anything, carve up anything, plus are heavily armored and much cheaper than specialized anti-cav units like SAP. With catholic factions, I don't even bother with spear units anymore, just high morale halberdiers http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

In sp I do the exact same thing thing as catholic the're a lot better then spears if perhaps a tad slow.
To bad the AI seldom has armor upgrades so that I could make the halbs my main force
Halberdiers are too slow for attacking.

well i MP i only use them in certain ways.. there are ways of keeping them in line, and a few simple bits of micromanagment works wonders. the main thng you need to do is only prevent them from being flanked or hit with the enemy armour piercing units, then you basically can rout your enemy fast. Try playing the danes for example, the viking units give enough armour piercing power to fend off any troops that might hurt halbreds, plus they are fast and can be used to cover any holes that open up in your line.
the last thing is your flanks, try keep the enemy cav at bay with your own, and then charge halbreds into the fray, whatch you rout thier cav, and then their armies

You can make some changes in game files and allow the JHI in whatever period u want.
