Here are some things I miss from Shogun that they for some reason or another did not incorperate in this game

1) Throne Room: Ok so it wouldn't be called the throne room but that was really cool.

2) Cut scenes of assasins: Why did they take these out ahhh

3) Rebels trying to take other provinces: Rebels in this game are to easy, they just sit there, not building, just wating.

Ya, it would be cool if we could mod all the rebels lands...like to have a sheild of their real contry. All we would have to do is give them a color, shield and make one extra unit...a king.

I miss the Assasin Cutscenes so much, as for Rebels invading...a Rebel force invaded my provence once as the Polish, a neighboring provence gained Independence from their rulers.i couldnt stop laughing when a force of 4000 rebels invaded Poland. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif hey wait, i better geton fixing that

minikiller:

I concur about the ninja cut scenes.

Imagine a Bishop, Cardinal, or maybe even a Pope going in to hear a confession.

"Bless me Father, for I have . . ."

and a dagger penetrates the curtain.

Almost a cool as the ninja w/ the blow darts

Also, for the most part the rebels do seem to just sit there, although I have been having trouble w/ the Spaniards reappearing from stacks of rebels in Leon and Portugal.

Rebels do invade other provinces if you are not careful. I was victim of that when I left my home Poland province open ( minimal force to keep loyalty, but not enough to counter a stackful of rebels) and the rebels just move in.

Perhaps not as often as you want? But faction respawn are rebels to me

Yeah, I was thinking that last night. The Scots and Welsh should be raiding England to make the English conquer them or suffer the consequences. As it is now, the English can basically ignore Wales and Scotland if they wanted to.

A campaign in high period I started as English - Scots invaded my lightly defended province. I swear they must have been communicating with the french cause they invaded in same year. Where to go for my king - north or south?

Lord Krazy do u think its possible to mod a whole new map and call in japan and make all the units from shogun and only make them avaliable on that map, basically making shogun in this game? what about makeing all the rebels in this game real countries, all we gotta do is change the sheild/color and add a king, if someone tells me how to do it i can.

Here are a few extra "cheats" for SP campaign, enter these the usual way with the period key:

"kidsmode" makes the game easier
"nuttermode" more aggressive AI and rebels
"unfreeze" gives you a new born son

Give .nuttermode. a try, it can't be cheating if it makes the game harder http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Thanks, if anyone can help more lemme know, it would be cool to have more 1 province factions then just rebels.

LordCrazy is it possible to make Japanese invade Europe using same turns and setups as Mongols (so we do not need to create new maps or something else?) and import MI troops?
Does this .nuttermode works in expert level?

EXCELLENT POINT

Quite right, in many case rebels can be ignored. Gosh, can't remember the province name, but one Baltic Sea province, not Livonia, and not the province just norther of Livonia, but the one north of that. Its a rebel province, TOTALLY unimportant. Sometimes, they will attack, a weak province, but with just a fair garrison in place, they just sit there.

"Raiding" is what Rebels SHOULD do They should "raid", "destroy" buildings, grab "hostages", etc. Make money and build more troops, and do it again.

If MTW had "seasons", then once a year, after a few successfuly "raids", a player should get a message from the leader of the Rebels demanding "payment" in exchange for peace. Isn't this what powerful rebels did?

Remember in STW, there were a couple of "Monk" held provinces, that "I" would leave til far into the game. Imagine having to "Pay" them to leave you alone. In the beginning to middle stages, it would have been a ballbuster to take those provinces; so you either have to pay or suffer there "raids".

Helllooooo Creative Assemblyyyyy....

""nuttermode" more aggressive AI and rebels"

Thank God somebody finally posted this I've been looking all over the site for the cheat to make the AI more aggressive and couldn't find it

Has anyone tried this? Does it make the AI more aggressive towards the player alone or also towards the other AI factions. In the latter case, it might not be too good.

cugel

ToranagaSama, the problem with the behavioral AI for rebels is that they are always low on money. If they spawn from rebellions they usually can't support all their troops from their 1 province -- They're always close_to_support_limit and can't build anything. They could be a bit more aggressive though. I remember playing in Shogun as the Oda clan on expert in the 1530 campaign. I wanted to see if I could still win while always using autoresolve for all battles. That was the toughest campaign I ever played You start with only 1 province (I think) and the rebels attacked me every turn from multiple directions. I couldn't possibly have done it at all without reloading (basically cheating) so that I could balance my forces so that the AI wouldn't automatically move into the province I attacked from after my move. Now that was fun

Why can't the Rebels in MTW act like that? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif Those Shogun rebels seriously tried to wipe you out in the beginning (at least in the MI version added campaigns).

I miss the realism of separate factions competing for the control of individual countries as opposed to undivided nations fighting amongst themselves over vast stretches of land. I miss winter battles, too, and seasons in general for that matter.

Wow. You guys are making me all nostalgic for STW. And I went and gave away my copy to a friend when I got MTW.

And you cant buy it in Oz anymore http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pissed.gif Maybe my freind will lend it back to me.

I personally DO NOT miss the throne room and ninja cutscenes in Shogun, since after you saw them the first few times, they became a chore. I do miss seasons, and realism, which (as I said in a topic of my own a few months ago) this game is nearly devoid of. Also, I think Rebels should be put at a lower priority than things like MP balancing, separate stats for MP and SP, and an operational level of combat (the arena in which many generals have been brilliant, most notably Napoleon).

I miss the speech for the harvest report "Your peasants are worthy only of punishment..."

But then I missed that in the Mongol Invasion too.

Seeing which faction ran each province on the strategy map (or the zoom) would be nice. The Throne Room was not ideal but right now we have too little information (although we get by with a full trade network).

Sure.....the FMV scenes in shogun were really coooool.

Did you ever check the disk in explorer as there are many more that never seemed to come up in the game such as the shogun funeral pyre?

We want more.....................

Added to the imersion a bit until you got bored and wondered off whilst the emmissary muttered on and on.

GREAT IDEA but they should only raid if they are bandit rebels. peasent rebels should be more peaceful because they are just normal peasants who doesent like high taxes or that you are excommed, but bandits are evvil people that like to kill people.

oh, and peasant rebels should build more than bandits because bandits never have the time for that they just raid and party.

MiniKiller
02-09-2003, 17:57
Ya and Rebels should "recuit" more soilders from nearby provinces and peasents should build and focus on farming and building.

I miss the strafing. I dont understand why this was taken out. In MTW, you move your soldiers like 10 feet, they turn around, move to the position, then face forward again. Would be so much easier with Strafing.

I thought Rome wasn't having turns at all...

Or at least not the risk type part.

Especially defensive positions that aren't on the edge of the map.

I miss cool unintelligible Japanese quotes.

I miss being able to mostly concentrate on just conquering Japan instead of all this fiddling around trying to marry off your daughters, make sure you've got good governers in all your provinces and a busy map.
I miss the little icons on the provinces showing what they are good for.
I miss the hint in words that a province has iron deposits.
