In 1346 to 1347 there is plague across the whole world. This results in a large drop in income. I think this loss is supposed to happen for only one turn but in some campaigns it continues till the end of the game.

Is this a bug?.

Strange...in all my campaigns that lasted
pass that year, the "Plague-Income loss" only
occurs for that turn (1346-47).

Perhaps there is an income loss due to other
reasons in your faction that you are not aware
of?
Example:
Trade routes severed, former trading factions
become enemies, Faction leader transitions,
loyalty, etc. ??? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

It's probably pretty accurate if it doesn't rise much though because obviously 1/5 of people are dead, and so are lots of the children who should be in the fields in a few years, and those childrens' children etc.

This is definitely not a bug If anything the impact of plague is MUCH UNDERSTATED in this game. About 1/3 of Europe died in the initial outbreak. Initial bubonic plague spread into new and deadlier pneumonic plague (100% of people who were infected with this variety died). Armies were not spared. The Scots, hearing of the massive die-off in England to the south prepared to invade and take advantage of English weakness. Then the plague struck their army and it disbursed in panicked flight, carrying the bacillus far and wide.

Recurring outbreaks of plague continued for over 200 years. European populations were reduced by 1/2 between 1346 and the mid 15th century. Many small villages throughout Europe were abandoned, some were never reclaimed and have been excavated in modern times, complete right up to the moment their inhabitants lay down in the fields and died or fled in terror

All populations and the resultant income should be immediately reduced by 1/3 and this should be permanent (for the remainder of the game). Europe as a whole went into a decline that was only arrested after Columbus discovered the new world. If it hadn't been for Columbus, Europe would probably be islamic today.
