My kingis getting pretty old and so are his brothers and there's no youngsters so I figure I'm going to be screwed in 20 turns if I don't get an heir fast. I tried searching for it but can't get it to work ingame.
Is there some sort of command console I'm suppoed to bring up first? If there is I can't find it. If I just try typing it on strategy map nothing happens.

I'm not to sure for that, but it seems there is only 6 slots for the heir - matural or non-matural male in total. If you've already having 6 heir there, the cheat won't add anymore.
I'm pretty sure that there more that 6 slots. Play as the Danes you will have 20 boys running around in about 20 years.
Plus i've modeds that used more then 6.
You have to type it right after the year ends. Just make sure you didn't selece a unit or a castle before the new years. (basicly that you have a completle blank screen.)

I have never heard of this one what exactly does it do? http://www.smilies-world.de/Smilies/nichtani_1/mcking.gif http://www.smilies-world.de/Smilies/nichtani_1/king_3.gif
it gives you another useless heir if your King can't produce one by himself. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

remember to type .unfreeze. then you should hear the marrage noise.
I was playing the Byzantines and thought I would be screwed after my king had 8 daughters and no sons. He didn't have any brothers either but he did have three royal uncles. When he got up to 63 years old, I killed two of the uncles so there would be an undisputed heir.
When the king died, the last royal uncle became the king, and at a decent age of 40. He had sons fortunately and my kingdom never lost a step.
