Ok, I have had countless crusades go through my land yet when I go through others with my own I always get a messege that says they are allowing me to pass. I was wondering why I never got one, now I did...I hate crusades going through my lands, they take my troops but I am allie with England...I out number them 2 1/2 to 1 however and is a sure victory...

*Edit*

Also what casued this question to fianlly be asked to me, why doesnt it happen every time?

i was actually wondering about this my self. How do you stop crusades from passing?

And what's even worst now (with the patch), is that your enemies can pass a crusade threw your land without engaging in combat. I'm playing as the HRE and am currently at war with the french. I build up a nice army of Gothic knights, and the damn french send a crusade to constantinople, taking 90% of my gothic knights. Before the patch the crusaders would have fauht my knights, not recruit them.

I know how you feel. I hate it so much that I have to turn this feature "off" now - I just changed the unit_txt to only allow the faction I'm palying to use crusade, which I would never use anyway.

I'm not sure I understand Minikiller's query. I think the first time a crusade wants to enter your land, you are asked if it is ok. If you say no, it is war against the crusading faction and excommunication from the Pope. If you say yes, that same crusade may enter and re-enter your lands at will, without asking you first. Is something going on beyond this? (IIRC, even enemy faction's crusades behave this way).

I actually like this feature - it is frustrating I know, but fun. I usually let the crusade in but move my good stuff (leaders + elites) out before they come. If I am very strong, and preferably very old, I hold them off. Some of my most memorably battles have been against crusades - they usually have some nice tough units, unlike some of the rabble the AI otherwise fields.

that's the way it used to be. but now with the patch you no longer have the option not to let them in. They just come ang go as they please.

That's why i'm mad, cause i wanted to fight the french crusade not help it out.

it seems that this crusade thing is broken. sometimes i am ask if i ll allow a crusade , sometimes i am not. moreover it seems that the crusades made by fanctions i am at war with can pass through my land freely, always without a question asked....

Why not let them take your troops, it is for a qoog quest. To regain the holy land. I would render my whoel army to mother church if i could =)

well dont blame me for not liking crusades. i m not even a christian http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif . anyhows crusades are really frustrating. especially if you are a nation in central europe. if you are english or spanish you can get away with it most of the times. anything else is hell.

Personnally, I'm ALWAYS asked if I allow the Crusades to enter my territory or if I decide to fight them.

Though, if you use the spacebar to skip ennemy moves (I NEVER use it), you automatically agree to all the propositions that are made to you this turn. So perhaps that it was the case for some Crusades.

Um, interesting - I'll look out for that bug. I haven't encountered it but then I usually play England and am not in the way of many crusades. I don't use the spacebar.

Even as an Orthodox Faction I have always been asked permission to enter.....unless I was the target. It can be a bit depressing to be on the recieving end if the AI launches them early in the game.

I'm playing the Byzantines and so far the crusaders who aren't going after me always ask nicely if they can pass through.

So far the crusades are usually against me, except the crusades of the poor, poor French. I really haven't been nice to them. At an early point, I ruled from Serbia to Antioch and was fighting the Egyptians after eradicating the Turks. The French kindly decide to help me by sending a crusade against Egyptian held Palestine. They ask to enter Bulgaria which I let them. I then take the whole of the middle-east all the way to Sinai, while the French march through one zealless non-catholic province after other, thus losing a lot of their strength. They finally arrive in Palestine only to find that it now belongs to me, so they kindly ask for it as reward for the catholic peasants who marched over all of Europe. They get a no and a beating, and since I control all provinces around Palestine they have no place to retreat. An easy waste of good troops.

The French later forgave me and we both started fighting the Almohads. I went through North-Africa and they through Spain. They send a crusade against Granada but by the time it gets to Valencia, I have taken Cordoba and Granada. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif ....another wasted French crusade. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

That is correct whoever said if you skip the turn they can come is correct

I tried 10 times, I let the turn fully go through 5 times, each time it asked me if I want the French to pass the other 5 I skipped the turn and the just came on. Bummer is once u say yes they can go anywere with any crusade from then on.

If you "fast forward" (spacebar) through a turn-- you do not get the option to stop crusades-- you're "skipping" the boring parts but you lose some options, like being able to refuse passage to crusades.

The spacebar acts as a hotkey to check the checkmark.
