I have seen some posts in regards to some game cheats recently and thought it might be an interesting topic . I do not want to start any wars or personal attacks just thought it might be of some interest.Do you use any of the cheats, .vigra.=all provs. get iron ,.mefoundsomeau.=all provs get gold also ag and cu provs get silver and copper. And .matteosartori.= full map,.deadringer.=1,000,000 florins,The one I do use is .worksundays. = fast construction which I feel does not upset the game balance so much. Also .badgerbunny.= unlocks all units and buildings, and laslty .conan.= play as rebels = (can not be undone) Note all these were found in the January issue of PC Gamer. Thanks and lets keep it cool. In fact I have never been able to win a game as the Turks yet w/o making my currency a .deadringer. for the Byzantine coin. Indeed, I have found it necessary to convince my industrious people to .worksundays. each time as well.

Just type in as you see it i.e. .deadringer. anytime during normal gameplay depending on which one you pick it will make a sound like the one above you will here coins clinking.http://members.fortunecity.com/bbsmilies/animated/winking.gif

The only cheat I have used so far is the full map cheat once in awhile. I think only being able to see the nations bordering you or your ships is a little silly. While England may not have known what was going on out in the Russian steppes, they did know of the existence of the HRE,Venice, Byzantines ect.

I'm not crazy about the map cheat though. I only use it to determine who has what territory, who is getting big ect...I wish there was a way you could keep tabs on territories, but not see the army movements unless bordering you.

Hmmm might be useful, you know finding that old gold Roman treasure can do wonderous things to an economy on the verge of bankruptcy, and my people are soooo lazy I think this 'Work Sundays' cult might be onto something good.

I think the full map "cheat" is not a cheat but livens up the early game, letting you know what is going on geopolitically before you have a big trade network. I wish we could at least see ownership of provinces as the default.

I don't use the cheat though, as my navy starts disappearing when I do.

I confess I use the "reload" cheat a lot though ... if only to try to learn from my battlefield disasters.

I think to use the .deadringer. cheat for 1,000,000 florins does give you an unfair advantage and make it virtually impossible to lose ,but honestly it was fun to have unlimited funds and build like crazy but that got boring towards the end after so much building, but it was cool having massive raider armies and not care about losses. Do a GA game, then you can look at the "homelands" bit to see who has what.

Or you can hold an emmisary over the province and a tool-tip will appear saying "Morocco - An Almohad Province" or some such. Princesses will do it too.

As for cheats, I have to confess to having played a game or 2 with .deadringer. only because the micro-management of trade can be a bit frustrating and time-consuming when I just want to get in there and have a battle.

The closest I'll ever get is to use 'cheesy tactics' against the AI. And I've won as the Turks a couple of times without cheating.
The key is to get a good start and ensure you are allied with either the Byz or the Egyptians, then attack the other...

I sometimes use the map cheat shortly after starting a campaign. Later on I got a full view of what's going on anyway, so I don't need it anymore.
In my second campaign ever, I used the .deadringer. because I was impatient and wanted to start building and upgrading right away and not wait until I earned enough money.
Those are the only two cheatcodes I've ever used.

I really look down on cheats and have never used them. The reload cheat with the reason "just to learn from my mistakes" is among the worst in my oppinion, although extra money, unlock all, and work sundays sound pretty lame as well. But hey.... you're not playing the game to please me so do whatever you like.

My son is forever looking up cheats for different games and it's something I can't understand. I've tried to explain that by using cheats you don't achieve anything but there you go. I suppose some of these are good for light entertainment but personally I like to make it difficult. So much more rewarding to triumph against adversity.

I dont cheat, but i have used .nuttermode. a few times to make the AI harder. but besides that i have never used a cheat. using .deadringer. to get $1 million florins is just unfair to the Ai, for u have no way of loosing, and .worksundays. is the same way in my opinion. its much more fun to build an economy on your own and attempt to conquer the world, or become the Super Power and intimidate other factions.

i guess my point is that if you beat the game using cheats to your edge, you really havnt beat the game at all.

I only used cheats for my personal mods' betatesting.

What exactly does .nuttermode. and .unfreeze. do? [embarrased]

.unfreeze gives you an eligable heir to unstick a bad campaign with a nancy boy king. Not a cheat in my book if you use it to be able to finish a game that has stalled. Not one I've had to use up until now.


.nuttermode makes the AI more agressive I believe, not used it either.


Oh and I like to earn my million florins the hard way. Not that it's that hard.

Crap How can you possibly amass 1,000,000 florins (or even 100,000 for that matter) while playing the game properly. I'm playing Byzantine, Hard, and trying to build trade, but I still have to have armies, build blgs etc and that all takes money
I've never been interested in cheats - I think it takes the random hand of fate away from a possibly interesting game - but if I hear how anyone else raised oodles of money just by "having trade" I think I'll choke myself (after first choking my Byzantine Chancellor who obviously isn't doing his job )

IMO, cheat or not cheat is not very important as long as you only play single player games, against the computer...
it is just a personla preference... If you want to cheat, cheat, if you don't want to, don't cheat, simple ...

I use .nuttermode. . It seems to give good effect.

I also use the reveal map and 1 turn construction time often. I think that the one turn construction time cheat will also effect the AI. I see lots of Fortress and fully developed provinces in my game lately.

Game is for fun. Use cheat if you want to. However, you will lose interest for the game if you use cheat exclusively just to beat the game, because there is no challenge in the game for you to feel good after you accomplished something. Of course, once in a while, you will come accross a game that seems to be unbeatable for you, but that will not be very often.

Nuttermode is more of an anti-cheat. Worksundays only affect the player's construction and training. The make all unit available cheat is more of a handy debug tool rather than a cheat, we use it to view all the unit icon without having to waste time meeting the training requirements, so it actually doesn't allow you to train any extra units. Remember the cheat have to be typed in every time you start a game as they are not saved, ie if you want nuttermode you have to type it in again each session.

Actually it's pretty easy to get 100,000+. I usually have a bank that big after palying for about 100-200 years.
The best way to do this (no not using trade cause that make the game weak. cause the AI doesn't know how to trade, so why should you) The trick is farming. Dedicate 2 of your provinces to build decent units, and then spend the rest of you initial money on emproving farmland. Every new province you envade build up the farm first, then build the extras. This make the game dificult and fun at the same time. Cause in the begining your tropps will be weak. And if you piss of the wrong faction it can eliminate you. But if the gamble pays off, after the first 200 years you will be able to build an army like no one else.

If you don't believe me try playing as the Spanish, then expend southeast till Eguipt.

To stay true to the post: I my self don't use cheats, and don't take advatage of some of the "Bugs" in the game.
Like => 1)Trade,
2)Automatic result of a castle assault (if i do use it i make sure i have arti in the army),
3)Keeping a province in constant revolt so you can collect money from putting down revolts,
4)Using spies to cause revolts so you don't go to war.(or religious units)
5)Using assesins, to kill of enemy or my own generals (paly the hand you were dealt)
6)Using alot of embesaries to see the whole map. (i don't see how one faction would need more that 5)
7)as far as cheatcodes, why would you want to? (the only once that i would use is the one that gives you a son when you have non, and the one that lets you play pass 1452)

he was talking about one million florins, not 100000.
I also never achieved this, I had 300,000 + a couple of times, but sooner or later the large-scale money-making will stop as you have to fight your trading partners...
I think we can all agree on building farm upgrades is very important, but even with 80% everywhere you won't be able to make such a great surplus. The real surplus comes from trade, and trade only.

I'm sure that 1,000,000 is not imposible. In my spanish campaign i put chok armies in the Spanish - French Border, and The black sea reagion (keeping enemy solderis out. send two navy's of 16 ships each, just to destroy enemy fleets. And improved the farmland, build churches. With my people happy, i didn't require any armies within my empire, only the armies mentioned above. By like 1260, i have 500,000 plus.
When all my provinces were producing Lances I moved north and Conquered the world in 50 (ballpark) turns. I'm sure if i wanted to, i could have raise 1,000,000. But i don't like to sit around.

the only one i use, is the montesorri one, i know spelled wrong.. only use that when testing mods, lets me see how the ai is reacting to the changes i made...

the most money i ever managed to bank was 320,000 and some change. that was one of my ehh games, not very challenging, did it with the english early...
