Mayb its just me but i currently have 4 generals commanding various armies in the name of my king.thats not a problem..the problem is they also commanded armies for my king's great granddad.....bit unrealistic?i think so

Two possibilities:

cloning was well known back then

or

the generals passed down their names to their children due to unimaginative solutions of naming their children.

I wonder how the Chief Eunuch passes his name to his children http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Yes it is a bit daft but unavoidable I think. I have a few generals who must be about 200 years old

well they need to be so old otherwise ud never get to use them:

ok each lives roughly 50 years so u have to be a warmongering biatch to get any use outa him, ud conquer the world even quiker.

Knight's right, I think.

It is a gameplay thing so that you get a chance to actually use your generals.

I consider it a side effect of having turns take 1 year of time. The turnover rate among generals would be severe if we recycled them once every 20 years.

I even managed to have the original Prince Alfred (age about 14 at the start of early) make it through to the end of a campaign with the English (c.1290 - TD 100%). He must have been about 215 He hadn't sat on his arse all that time either, probably my most successful general (9*). I'd have been gutted had he shuffled off this mortal coil at some point. Must be cryogenics... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Ages for generals really wouldnt work well in MTW. If you changed it back to seasonal turns I could see it working.

yeah seasonal turns seem to be the way to go.

also i want hard as hell level of skill so that i actualy get to enjoy the sp campaign and not conquer it with *sigh* militia

Must have been a highlander...there can only be one but then again there are too many of them in MTW.

I propose a new MTW innovation, its called a duel. one on one, generals fight one on one with another for the right to be immortal. Just frame them for treason if your ethics get the better of you. damn evolutionists.
