View Full Version : AI ganging up on you threshold
I know that after you become powerful, the AI factions don't want to have peace treaties and such anymore. Just wondering if it is based on provinces controlled, income or size of armies.
If it is provinces, how many does it take? Sometimes I want to prolong games and don't want everybody attacking me yet.

I think it has something to do with the amount of provinces you control, i dont know how much but i would like to know the answer as well.
I also believe it is relevant to your overall wealth and the number of victory points you have accumulated in GA games. I am currently playing England in a GA campaign and barely had I conquered all of England, France, Antioch, Tripoli and Palestine when the AI suddenly refused to deal with me any more. It must have been the 250,000 florins I had saved up thanks to my vast trade fleet. What bothers me about this AI threshold is that factions on the other side of the map will also refuse to deal with you, even the ones you share a common enemy with
I was the byzantines and i had 13 provinces and heaps of money.
these are my borders : Croatia, Serbia and Bulgaria and on the other side Trebezond, Rum and lesser armenia and antioch
i had Rhodes and Cyprus as well
I had 260,000 in the bank and was getting about 20,000 each turn but was spening just over half of it in expenses alone http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif
Then France launched a Crusade and Egypt, a Jihad
Now in the Wes mod the Hoarde were rampaging through Central and Eastern Europe and had all of Russia (i used the matteosartori cheat to see how good the ai is with the mod)
France's crusade was destroyed because England was attacking them and taken most of the french land captured the chapter house not long after it was launched with a LOT of men so i defeated the Jihad and decided not to advance further as the GH were all along my Eastern Boreder and i wouldnt have enough troops along the border to convince the GH that there was more money and men on my side and i was capable of defending it
As the Spanish, I control the entire Iberian peninsula, Morocco, Algeria, Ireland, Nicaea and Anatolia, which I think are 14 provinces total. The Sicilians and Polish both cancelled their alliance with the Egyptians as they declared a Jihad on me. I think I'm a few provinces away from being ganged up on.
I'm just trying to play spoiler by weakening the Egyptians. They conquered two Turkish provinces while the Byzantines conquered one. The Byzantines expanded too much up north so the Egyptins managed to grab everything south of Georgia and even managed to siege that and Constantinople. The Sicilians lost Malta but got Serbia. They managed to conquer Greece, Hungary and Croatia and are giving the Byzantines a hard time. The Egyptians already managed to destroy an HRE and Italian crusade and reconquered the province I captured while crusading. My second crusade was more successful since I still have Nicaea.

No idea on this really.
I've had all AI factions declare war on me when I held less than 60% of the map; present game I hold well over 60%, am allied with the Papacy and at war with the other 2 remaining factions (repop of Horde and Egyptians)
Florins don't seem to have any clear role either.
If anyone knows of a definitive cause, I would love to hear it http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I'm close to certain that it is your king's international prestige that matters. As Danes (GA), I had everything on the map north of Brandenburg, but had not expanded for a good 100 years. My king was a low-command, low-acument dufus and had an international prestige of 3 or so, which reflected only the size of the empire and the trade income. (I also led on GA points by a small margin.)
I decided to kick some arse with my best generals and the king Himself, and in a couple of turns steamrollered through perhaps 4-5 provinces. Nothing profound: but my King's international prestige leapt to 7 or 8 and within 10 years everyone of the map was at war with me.
That tells it like it is, I think, given that the faction I attacked was the horde, friends of no-one except the very distant and themselves-friendless turks.
I've been in max influence for quite a few years now. I'm not sure when I reached it but at the least it would be 20 years, might be around 40 at the most. The French betrayed me and attacked Aragon while the Italians were passing through, forcing me to either lose the province or let the Italians leech some powerful troops. However, the Italians remained allied with the French while the Papacy remained allied with me. When you are being ganged up on, nobody remains allied with you so I must not be in the threshold yet.
