Patch effect on current campaign

I downloaded the patch a while ago, but keep forgetting it when I start campaigns... but, if I am in the middle of a campaign (late 1200s now), will the patch effect my current campaign? I do not want to cause too many disruptions, as I feel I'm on the verge of wiping out my arch nemeses, the Spanish.

I don't know but I'd try it and see. What's the worst that could happen? You'd have to uninstall and re-install the original, losing about 20 minutes. The patch is great (especially re-balancing cavalry/swords vs spears), but it will restrict the units you can get in each period so you need to be aware of the period restrictions.

I lost my current campaigns when installing the patch.

Sorry, NewJeff, sounds like I gave you bad advice. I was just thinking you could copy your old save elsewhere and try the patch. If it doesn't work, uninstall, copy the save back and re-install.
