VI release date USA: 6th May
VI release date Europe: 9th May (as found on the .com site)
Why-oh-why can't they just do the releases in Europe and Usa at the same time. I'm getting sick of having to wait for games to come out in Europe after they are released in US. Hell, this game seems to have a bigger fan base in Europe than in US. Why can't we be treated equal?
If it takes this long to get the cd's shipped to Europe (yeah right http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif ), they should just wait to release it in the US imho.
What is the result of this? Half the peeps in Europe will download the ripped game to be able to play it, and not buy the game anymore.
I only ask to be treated equal.
Ive been to USa and i have to say not that many people play on PCs Most play on consoles like ps2 and gamecube so honestly whats the point of releasing it out there before hand?

Come on, it`s only 3 days. Guess it`s some distributional issue.

that it's 3 days isn't the point, the point is that it's done systematically. Usually it takes 3 weeks or more to release games outside US. I feel we deserve te be treated equally. Always the same story: "yay the game has gone gold, it's in stores in US in a few days but i have to wait #amount of time# to play the game here OR download a ripped version and play now"
I still have the ripped MTW verion i had to settle with for at least a week (can't remember exactly, but think it was longer), i did buy it when it finally came out tho.
Maybe they're improving, dunno, maybe they will even launch RTW simultaniously in EU and US (yeah right)
It's a similar case with movies, only it's not three days.
marketing strategy ?

Being an american, I think that the disparity should be even greater. Why, do you ask? Because I'm going to forget to buy it for a least a week once it comes out. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
But seriously, folks, can you really not wait another 3 days? Are your lives so perfect that the idea of someone somewhere buying something 3 days before you do really irks you?
If so, you should probably work somewhere where games or sold.... or make freinds with someone who does. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

It all depends on where the publisher/developer is based. Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis came out in Europe and even Australia weeks before the USA got it. The problem is most publishers are now based in the USA making it a lot easier to release in the USA market.
Blizzard does worldwide releases for their games. Most stores sell the games the moment they get them though, so that point is moot. My business concentration is distribution management and I can tell you that retailers are the most powerful member of the channel now, not the manufacturer. You won't be able to coordinate it anyway since the moment U.S. retailers get their hands on the game on the 6th, they aren't going to wait until the 9th. As an example, Wal-Mart has over $200 billion dollars in revenue every year. If they want to sell, nobody can stop them.

No, never http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Hey, I live in the US. But I live in Hawaii. And it always takes about a week for games to get here because they always forget about these stupid islands.
Just quit yer bitchin. I have to deal with damn protesters everywhere and their pissing me off. Bet Europe isn't filled with so many damn hippies like Hawaii. Well it wasn't when i left Austria 13 years ago.
Sorry for getting off topic.

Heh, Master of Orion III made a big song and dance about a 'simultaneous global release'... except the UK didnt get it until 2 weeks later.
If you really *must* have the games when theyre released in the states, then may i recommend (for those of you in the UK) http://www.strategic-plus.co.uk/. They got a copy of Moo3 to just me a few days after the official US release - before some parts of the US had copies available.

AFAIK, Activision were trying for a simultaneous world release for the 2nd May, looks like they just couldn't quite manage it. They are not trying to keep anyone waiting. Well if it make you feel any better - the 9th is a Friday, so you'll have the whole weekend to play it.

geez, DVDs seem to get released first in Europe, so it all balances out. You can pre-order Season 6 of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" in the UK, but only Season 4 in the US...
I remember knowing people who got some CDs off the Internet a few weeks before release here. Apparently, they release some early in Japan. I think U2's last album was released there first.
hopefully it wont be delayed http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
