Question about V&V in combat:

I have a general who has a base command of 5, but has virtues of Expert Attacker (+2 when attacking) and Skilled Risky Attacks (+1 when attacking with long odds). I move that generals stack into a territory, after which it shows a +8. I move another stack from another territory such that the general still appears to have the 8 command (the command stars toggle between 7 & 8 as I increase/decrease the stack from the other territory).

I'm happy as a clam at high tide (valour 4/5 archers are nice&#33http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif...however...

When I enter the combat screen, the general only has a command of 5, and the other troops have a valour of 2/3 ARRGGGHHHH http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

Has anyone else noticed this? It appears that these "situational" V&V's aren't working...any suggestions would be appreciated http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I have noticed this too. Although, I can't recall the exact situations when it occurs. I noticed that the command stars seem to fluctuate depending on what territory your general is in or which units are under his command... wierd. Unfortunately I have no explanation. As far as valor, I have not noticed any fluctuations. Do the v&v actually change the valor levels of the units or are they just "factored" in invisibly? I'm afraid I have not only not answered the question but also complicated the issue....oops.

I believe that for every 2 stars of command, each unit in the army receives 1 valor. On another note, I do know that "non-situational" V/V work correctly...like when you have a 0-star general who is also a sybarite, his valor goes down to -2...quite disheartening

yeah, the poor sybarites always get the shaft.

Check to see if he's inbred, an alco or something similar.they rip down command.

Skilled and expert attacker don`t work in the battlefield(at least at the player`s general). Defending skills however give the correct valour points.

It`s called Specialist Attacker. Field Defence Specialist is the highest Defence v&v and gives 3 valour properly.
